I asked my dr to do an apendectomy cause I'm scared of how bad it'll hurt if I get apenticitis and I could die from it, but he said that he doesn't do abdominal surgeries, no matter how commonplace, if there's no medical need beyond a fear of what 'might' happen. Seems odd since doctors do elective c-sections all the time.

what???? are you just asking for a randoming surgery for fear of getting appendicitis? Usually, they don't know that it needs to come out until it becomes infected or if you're experiencing pain?? Elective C's and removing an organ are two completely different things-whatever the reason for someone wanting a c section-that baby has got to come out-even if the reason comes down to being just plain scared-but there is pain with both. Thanks for the laugh though...you made my day!!!

I get your tongue in cheek meaning, and I am able to laugh too, but there will be some that will get very angry at you!!!! As far as the comparison, I do not actually believe you are too far off...but then that will set ME up for a response from the far pro-side....your point, of course, is a good doctor doesn't cut all the way into a healthy abdomen unless it is necessary and a weak one caves in to pressure at the slightest nudge or for convenience and/or liability, monetary issues.
