Hi there,
I have had 3 sections in the past and when I went for a consult to have a fourth baby and c-section my high risk dr explained it to us. He said that placenta accreta is when the placenta grows into the uterus. He said they can see it by 20 weeks. he said it is dangerous as it can grow through the scar and into organs. he also said that a hysterectomy is a good possiblity. This does not always happen but your chances increase per c-section. I was led to believe that you would definately know about this problem prior to surgery and they would be able to manage it. He also said I would have 1/10 chance of needing a transfusion due to bleeding. after listening to the risks we have still decided to ttc our fourth. Good luck and try not too worry.

P.S
The more I think of it, I can remember my dr saying that they definately know prior to surgery because they pick it up via ultrasound. he also said that a radiologist a__sists during the surgery if they find you do have this. They can also do an MRI to see how far inbedded is the accreeta.

hey there!! I didn't recognize that that was you! try not to stress. Placenta accreeta is my biggest fear too. When I had my last baby there were 4 girls in the clinic that had it growing through there bladders and they were hospitalized, went I went back for this consult I asked him whatever happened to them, and he said they were all fine, nobody died and all is ok. I would ask your dr for an u/s and they can specically keep a look out for that. With each of my pregnancies I have had an u/s every 3 weeks looking for different things because of my preeclampsia risks. Keep on them, they should know for sure prior to the surgery. Are you going to a dr in a large city or rural? I find the best obsstrics are often in larger cities. my drive is an hour and half to mine. Keep me posted, I am either here or on pregnant over 35. Good luck, don't worry.
