as far as i've heard nothing will knock you into labour, however you can help the baby drop by walking around alot.... gravity will take care of it.... i've now had 2 c-sec and i know they wont put you to sleep unless absolutely ness, it can slow the baby's heart and breathing down..... i panic too but at least now they let your partner in the room.... just try to relax and remember that whatever happens they are doing the best thing for you to have a happy healthy baby.... its worth it in the end...

Hey alicia, they used pitossin to induce labor on me but it is very stressful on your uturus and because I already had a previous C-section I had to have another...if you DO end up w/a C-section...the first time may be very scary and just the thought of it may give you the "UNCONTROLLABLE SHAKES" like it did to me...I didn't actually relax until I was already on the operating table strapped down so I couldn't move and they gave me laughing gas and oxygen JUST to calm me down, AND maybe a little because the epidural was wearing off by then because it took my body over an hour to go completely numb (was only supposed to take 15 mins) and they gave me morphine for that, too. I think if you wanted it, they would put you to sleep..I think the laughing gas has that effect anyway, if given in a large enough dose..they gave me just a little and it made me feel woozy, tired, and TOTALLY relaxed...then I heard the baby cry and WHOO! I started CRYING UNCONTROLLABLY! I WAS SOOO HAPPY! The gas later is terrible and the vicadin they give you for pain is a terrible constipator, so sneak some PRUNE JUICE in the hospital..you'll need the relief, and they won't give you what you really want...alot at once...until you've been there for 4 days..you have to talk directly to the doctor, by the way...nurses won't authorize anything, guess they just don't have that authority...my doc said, "sure, raid the hospital fridge for prune juice!" Of course my husband did it, and within 2 hours of drinking that prune juice I was FINALLY allowed to leave! You won't be moving much until 1 week AFTER the surgery and you definitely have to FORCE YOURSELF to move...that little breather thing they give you is supposed to work you out to prevent infection...I did it all the time..it was a pain in the tummy but I figured an infection would be worse! Plus, having the numbness for seemingly FOREVER AFTER is not very nice either...good luck to you whatever happens! I've never experienced natural birth so I don't even know what it's like...my babies were not so cooperative!

I was out completely under general anethesia for my c-section because I could not have an epidural. I told the anethesiologist that being completely out worked for me because of anxiety about breathing. He said that they prefer not to put people completely under because of the risk that the patient could aspirate. He said that they have meds for the anxiety if people need it.

I had a similar problem. My daughter was 9 lbs. I had to have my daughter by c-section. She was to big and my pelvic area was to small. So don't worry if you have to have one. It will be fine.

I am scheduled to have a c-section on Aug.31st. I think that maybe since I was a belly dancer and pretty active, I might have a better recovery. In any case I feel for all woman that have to endure this. Some say it was great and others say it was the worst thing. I guess I will see.

I have to agree with KM. I also had a c-section after 29 hours of labor but only an hour of pushing and then failed forceps. At first when my doctor said we may have to go down this route, I was devestated. This is not what I wanted. However after a few more hours, I was asking for one. I had a fever and was dry heaving so I was burning off the epidural very quickly. VERY PAINFUL. The ceserean was very easy. I even had a blood transfusion two days later because I lost half my blood volume so my iron levels were extemely low. 3 days after my daughter was born I went home and was a little sore but I was out walking and couldn't wait to workout again. I was induced one week after my due date and I too had tried s_x, spicy food, greasy food and bumpy car rides. Nothing worked for me. A friend bounced on an exercise ball and she swears that is what put her into labor.

I had my 3rd child by c section on july 26, 2005. My first two were delivered v____ally and were almost 10 pounds each. The doctors were concerned that this last baby would be over 10 pounds so they had me come in 1 week early to induce me. I had the same problem. My cervix was very high and not soft. The baby did not drop. They spent two days given me a suppository in my cervix to try to soften it and pitocin to stimulate contractions. Nothing happened. So, by the 2nd day-they decided to give me the c-section. It wasn't so bad. I was very nervous. The baby was out in about 5 minutes. She weiged 8 pounds 9 ounces. So if I would have waited she would have been about 10 pounds. The worst is the pain afterwards. But, they keep you filled with pain medicine.

I had a c-section august 19th after being in labor for 13 hours, I was only 4 1/2 centimeters dilated. I wanted to have the baby naturally but I ended up having an emergency c section because the baby's heart was decelerating. I had tried to prepare myself for this since I get rather panicky also, but I did not enjoy when they tied my arms down (which no one had told about) I was having a panic attack in the operating room and all of the OR people thought I was nuts. Now im trying to get rid of my flabby belly, I still wish I could have had the baby naturally though.

hi..i have had two c sections and i had an axiety attack with the first one and totally freaked out...they gave me a "high spinal block" which is when the spinal goes too high and causes you to not be able to breath and shallow breathing...this is rare but it can be very severe you can actually stop breathing and need to be put on a breathing machine until it can wear off anyhow that is really rare i guess......anyhow i has never had anxiety attacks before but after this first spinal i could not swallow at all or talk once it wore off i was fine but i had an axiety attack when this was going on and totally freaked out....so then i had them all the time after my first c....so then when i got pregnagnt again i was freaking and did not want another c...well my 2nd was 10'1 and came c...no problems with him it was easy.....the spinal went fine and i finally stopped having anxiety attacks when my 2nd turned 2 and he is 21/2...we are trying now for a 3rd and i hope it does not trigger them again.....i am scared to have a 3rd c though...

I had my baby boy on monday. He is a 34 week old preemie, and doing great considering. He weighed 4lbs 10oz, and was 18 1/4 inch long. His apgar score was a 9, which is unbelievable. They think I can bring him home next week, because he is doing so well. The whole reason I had him so early by c-section was because I was having complications with my heart. I have a aicd in place for risk of sudden cardiac death, due to a rare heart disease called hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy. I went through so much during my pregnancy, and certainly had anxiety. I worried so much! One day I picked up my bible to read it, and look to God for comfort, because at that point my family, friends, and even doctors could not fully convince me that I would be o.k. or that my little boy would be o.k. I turned right to a verse that basically told me to stop worrying. Talking to God really helped me, and continues to help me. When I had my daughter 7 years ago c-section (without symptoms or even knowledge that I had a heart disease) I was nervous then too, but made it through and bounced back rather qiuckly. Hopefully I do with this one also, but for now I am extremely thankful that my son is doing well and I made it through to raise my two beautiful children, and my husbands two beautiful children. You will do fine, and who knows, you may not even need a c-section. If you do, try and stay awake though, it's worth all the anxiety, and panic attacks. I'll be praying for you. Hopefully you find some comfort in my story. Good luck to you and your baby.

If you were to have a c section, yes you can request that you be put to sleep. I was put to sleep with mine.

not to discredit your belly dancing ability, but, having a c-section is major, major surgery. you being active does not have anything to do with the recovery process. it is just a process that is different for everyone. previous experience and body type does not play a part. muscles and tissues have still been cut and even it you do not feel pain, after a few months you could still not be fully recovered.

Alicia I have had 2 C's and soon to have a 3rd they can put you to sleep and like you my cervix hadn't thinned out I carry all my babies high they never drop lolol we tried s_x too nothing worked for us but not everyone is the same do not take castor oil some say to do that but that is putting the baby at risk and you don't want to do that a friend of mines sister in law did that she drank the whole bottle and her veins started collapsing that is dangerous nipples stimulation has been said like ange said to start labor and so has orgasms and if neither work at least you had fun trying right lol ok gl 2u and you baby have a safe delivery
