I had my 2nd c-section in Aug.2002 my first one went good but my second one has been different. My scar is still really senst_tive to the touch it has a numb feeling and has a large lump on my left side. Sometimes it hurts so bad that shorts hurts. I have been really scared to go to the dr. Do you think that i have an abcess in there as well?

i to have had both staples and been stiched.i was stiched with my first and 5 months after it burst open at the side again and i was terrified,it turned out to be an infection and soon healed with antibiotics, second was stapled for quickness in my opinion but must admit i did heal a lot better and a lot quicker and it was painful getting the staples out!

Ravenna - my feet swelled up as if I was over 300 lbs. The top of my feet hurt somewhat too because of the pressure. I didn't have any water retention when pregnant, but as soon as they gave me the IV drip, my feet began to swell. All the nurses and my dr. said this was normal & would last for about 2-3 weeks. My feet finally went down around 2.5 weeks. Hint: Walking around helps and most importantly, to reduce swelling (even if temporarily) keep your feet above heart level. Sitting with your feet on a chair won't do. Lie down with your feet up above your chest level on pillows. This helps for overnight relief. Hope that helps. Perhaps by now your feet are better though - I see you posted last month.

Tina S. im going in for a C-section july 11th, 2005. and Im getting 8 weeks for that from work.( 2 before and 8 after). My doctor said it all depends on who handles your disability, as how much time they give you. But im in New york so it might be not be the same in a different state. And from reading everyones comments I didnt know that would leave holes. And be so painfull after the first couple of weeks.

I had a c/s on June 21..my 2nd, was stapled, 2nd also. Nurse took out my staples, mostly it didn't hurt, just a couple of times it did, and she warned me...it was hard for her to get to or something...The healed skin is lumpy, hopefully that will go down...I'm still in a lot of pain, expecially on my right side. I saw OB on Tuesday, and she said everything looked okay...hasn't been 3 weeks yet...at the hospital and when i returned home, they had me put a maxi pad between my stomach fold (also overweight) and the incision site, that would help keep it dry...it worked like a charm. A week after I got home, I took the steri-strips off myself (was told to). I too had a drain put in till the day before I left. Can't wait till life is back to normal.

I had my 2nd c-section on Feb. 10... I have 2 holes in my incision area that have healed to the top but have never closed...I still have stuff draining from the area. I have little faith in this ever healing since its been over 5 months since my daughter was born and my physician does not have any answers to help me. I will never have another c-section!

Hi, Guys If anyone gets down this far from reading all the horror stories. This one isnt as bad. I had a c-section and had staples. I had bleading from the incesion and the pain got so bad that they went in and and pulled out out the staples and I had a blood clot. that they cleaned out and hve been fine since then. Had some numbness but tha went away. and staples are being taking out. 4 days after being home. So it all depends on how you look at things and how bad they willl be. No one should have holes and let a doctor tell you that thatey are suppost to be there.

I had a c section and had staples and when they took the staples out a week later I was bleeding from it also and they said it was normal with the exception of bubbles going across my incision line

I had a c-section on July 6 and still have a ton of pain. I also have a lump just under the left side of the incision and the skin is pink under it. My OB is out of town for 2 weeks so I saw an NP and a resident. The NP had a great bedside manner but didn't seem to know much about what it could be. The resident, a woman by the way, was totally condescending, saying it was just a little redness and telling me to tak the steri-strips off. (The OB had told me to wait and let them fall off by themselves. ) She only agreed to give me antibiotics when I got angry but gave me a pretty weak one (Keflex). It's been only 24 hours so we'll see if it helps. Unfortunately it's already given me and possibly the baby diarrhea. The pain is pretty bad too but Narcotics just made me drowsy and constipated so I am taking 600mg of Ibuprofen around the clock which seems to help. By the wqy, some people mentioned numbness around incision-I was told this is normal and should go away in a few weeks....Still, I feel I was led to believe the c-section would be so easy-it is anything but!

I am 2 months past my 1 st C-section and its the last thank God he has answered my prayers not to do this no more. I still have sharp pains on the side but I am still open a little so its closing in slowly maybe about 2 more weeks we think Dr's say I am doing fine and baby is doing fine so I am now about 3 fingers in length not much depth.

I had a c section about 5 weeks ago and i have some swelling above the right side of my scar, is this normal? I was also wondering if the stretch marks would fade. I didnt have them going into the surgery but ended upwith them when I got done with it. I guess she did some really ripping of my muscles.

Debbie - July 24
