I am having a c-section, and am terrified about what my body is going to look like afterwards! I have read the other threads about the flap, and they never get many responses, so please tell me seriously, does everyone get the flap? and does it really never go away? Before I was pregnant, I was fairly thin (5'9" 120lbs) - do I still not stand a chance?!?!?!

NO, I did not. I am 5'3 and weigh 105 or so. You can get a flap if you are thin IF you do not have good skin elasticity (genetics) or you gain a couple of pounds above the scar. As you age you will get a bit of a flap as your tissues inevitably loose their tauntness..but Claire, may I ask why you are having a c? Is this your first baby?

you now, there comes a time when one just has to stop being vain-who really cares if you have a little pouch?? unfortunately, age will catch up and you'll be worrying about more than that flap. I hope you don't get stretch marks!!!

I'm having a c because I was told I need a c. And I don't think I'm being overly vain, I'm young, and quite frankly anyone who says they don't care about how they look is lying. I was just wondering about the flap, that's all.

I care, but Im not running to the plastic surgeon for a little extra skin, that is a fact of life, your body gets wear and tear, your probably too young to now that yet.

I think it is a valid thing to wonder about. I too, wondered what my scar would look like (not with my first, I was exhausted and defeated). At the time I had not heard of flaps, but since I have concrete abs from Elite-level gymnastics that might be why I didn't get one or the fact that my ab muscles were cut completely (no room for the other procedure) with my horizontal cut. I do notice once in awhile I have an indication of a POTENTIAL problem area, but so far none to speak of.
