I had a c-section a month ago and my husband and I had s_x yesterday. I stopped bleeding about 4 days ago so I thought it would be okay....But last night and today I found some spotting. There is starting to be a little more blood as the day goes on. I dont feel comfortable talking to my ob/gyn and I dont have a regular doctor. She told me to wait 6 weeks and I know if I tell her whats going on she is going to be rude to me. I dont really know why you have to wait in the first place, I cant find any information about it. Does any one know what may be going on?

You can have a period at four weeks pp, especially if you are not b___stfeeding.

You have to wait to make sure your cervix is completely closed, or you could get an infection. It's the same reason why you can't use tampons for 6 weeks after having a baby. Did you dilate/efface at all before your c-section? I would recommend that you talk to a medical professional, even if it's just calling your local ER. They can tell you with more accuracy than anyone on this site if you need to be checked out or not. With that said - I bled for about 2 weeks after my c-section; I went a week with no bleeding, and started spotting again at 4 weeks pp., but it stopped after a few days.

I didn't wait that long to have s_x after either of my c-sections...oops...I did have some really heavy bleeding at about 4 weeks pp after my second c-section, like golf-ball sized clots. I freaked out and called my ob/gyn...they said it was a period. It lasted about the normal length of my periods. The bleeding was heavy, but the doc said that was the body cleaning itself out. Like Jamie said, you probably should call your doctor, or you can also call the hospital where you gave birth...the nurses there will be able to tell you if it's a normal thing or a problem.

Actually, the doctor tried to have me to push and the head was crowning. I was at 10cm but the my sons heart rate was going down so they took me in for a c-section. The hospital said that they can't tell me any thing for sure and I get different answers from every one I talk to. People tell me its normal and then people tell me I'm bleeding internally. I guess I'll just wait it out a few days and see what happens. As of right now the bleeding is getting a little heavier and its a dark brown color. Is that bad? I don't think I even remember what my last period looked like before I got pregnant. Oh, one more thing....I'm having cramps too.....

That really sounds like a period...my first period after my baby looked like chocolate syrup (tmi, I know!!!). My menstrual cramps have been worse after my c-sections...

The baby was crowning and they took you in for a c-section? That's HORRIBLE. ALL babies' heartrates drop during delivery, and it probably only would have been a few more pushes before he was out. God, doctors these days - too quick to cut. ANYWAY, if you were fully dilated, you really should have waited the full six weeks. I would suck it up and talk to your OB, and have her do an internal.

Hi. congrats on your new baby! Like Jamie said, you got the shaft probably on the c-section since babies HR's do go up and down on the way out...anyhow, rusty brown or brown blood is OLD blood and so it doesn't sound like hemorrhaging. If it goes to bright red or deep purple red you should see a doc. Always talk to your doctor whenever you have questions, however. We can guide you, but your doc is your best choice. S_x after full dilation is not a good idea until 6 weeks because of the risk of infection. Your uterus is normally pretty well closed off to the outside world and after birth you must be more careful to not introduce unneccessary bacteria into it until all is healed and sealed up tight again.
