Deanne,
It is not unusual for some women to have an enlarged uterus after pregnancy, especially multiple pregnancys. There is a condition however called adenomyosis which is commonly diagnosed in women who have had c-sections. During a section, some of the lining we typically lose during our menstruation accidentally gets embedded within the muscle layer of the uterus. This tissue reacts to our hormone changes and typically swells and becomes engorged with blood over time. It typically results in a tender and soft feeling uterus that is uniform in its enlargement. It can be diagnosed via a biopsy. Some women who have this condition complain of pelvic pain, irregular menses, and unusual pressure. Ask your doctor if this is something to consider.
Hope this helps.
Lisa

I would like to know more about this. It has been almost 3 years since I had an emergency c-section. My uterus is enlarged and very tender. I have to get up several times at night to go to the bathroom, and at times it can be very painful. I went to my Dr today. We tried a medicine that didn't work now he wants to try birthcontrol pills for 3 motnhs? I was wondering if you are taking birthcontrol pills. My Dr said this sometimes helps. Hopefully, it will.
