My husband was allowed to be present for part of my c-section. He waited outside until they had the anesthesia done and they had cut through all the layers except the uterus itself. Then they allowed him to come in for the actual birth, and sent him out again while they sewed me up. He had to put on scrubs and a mask and shoe covers. Some hospitals will allow you to have two people present. I've never heard of any allowing more than that...I think it's because of keeping the operating room as sterile as possible. You can call your hospital and ask about their particular rules. Also, if for some reason you had general anesthesia (where you are asleep for the operation) then they don't allow anyone to come in with you.
