Has anyone had forceps used during a c section? If so, what was the reason and were there any problems as a result of the forceps?

Dixie, I haven't had forceps used but for my second c-section the doctors tried using the vacuum. My daughter just did not want to come out!!! The vacuum popped off anyway because she was so far up into my ribcage. My doctor pulled on her from the inside while the other doctor literally laid acroos my chest and pushed on her from the outside. No complications though. She was just stubborn.

Yes. My doctor used forceps on my daugher as she was laying transverse. She was only 5.5 pounds so I was suprised to learn they would use forceps. I did hemorrhage with that baby and required 4 units of blood. GL.

yes for my second they needed to use foreceps as the dr didnt cut me as far the 2nd time, 2nd csection, because he felt that I would heal faster. The problem was his head was 38 cm and he was sitting head down looking to the left. My son is fine but he did have a small bruise on his cheek from the forceps. As for me everything went great and I was walking around and shopping 2 days later, it was my easiest seciton.

Yes, my first was delivered by csection and they had to use forceps. He has a small dent from it on his left temple, that has never really gone away, but is really only obvious to us because we know what it is from. He is 19 months now. Once he gets all his hair it won't be visible. :)

Hi dixie, with my first c-section the doctor did not need to use forceps, but with my 2nd which was 1 week ago they did use forseps, I think this was because he had cut my incision a little too small and she simply wouldn't fit out lol, my daughters head was 34.5 cm and she weighed 8 pound 10, she had no side effects from the forceps apart from a little bruising on the side of her face but this was gone in 24 hours.
