hi, I had another post about why people feel bad about having a c-section and a lot of people keep saying that they didn't get to hold there babies right after, some even say hours. Why is this? I can't believe it, actually. My son followed us back to the room after my c-section. They proped me up, and even though I was shaking real bad, I still got to hold him. I think I would have gotten out of the bed to get to him. Is it true, why did you guys have to wait to see you babies?

After 28hrs of labour, which started at 10pm, and a walking epidural then a morphine block, it was simply not safe for me to hold my baby. I was numb and could barely lift my own arms, nevermind keep my eyes open. Although i asked, they told me no. Besides, once he was under the lamp, he had to stay there for however long.

I didn't get to hold or see my daughter for 24 hours after delivery. This was because I was on bedrest until my blood pressure went down to a normal level, and my daughter was in the NICU. I did make them bring me pictures because I woke up 4 hours after the surgery convinced that my baby had died and no one had told me. Of course she was fine, I was just freaking out, and I kept looking at the empty baby warmer and thinking terrible things.

I was in labour for 29 hours after the C-section It took them 1 hour to put me back together Ha then I went to recovery so I didn't get to hold my angel till 3 hours later. That does suck they sent her with my husband when she was born so he was the first one to feed her that upset me a bit but It ment alot to him.

I have had two c sections. I held both of my babies in my arms as they were sewing me up. These were scheduled sections, so an emergency section would be different since they usually put you out. I was awake the whole time and informed of what was going on. They had a mirror to show me my babies as they pulled them out (didn't see the acual incision area). My husband was with me the whole time and got to cut the cord. My dr was very candid with me before my sections. He told me a lot of people have sadness after a section because they feel they didn't really deliver the baby correctly. He said the way he looks at it a section is harder on a mother than the baby usually. In instances like mine (my first was breech, second elected to have section due to previous one) he sees it as a mother taking the danger on herself instead of risking her baby. He said that is what a mother does. It certainly made me smile. This is not to say that any surgery isn't dangerous for the baby. But I got what he was saying.

what a great dr. I am hoping to get to hold my baby right away this time. I have already talked to my dr about some things but plan on presenting him with a birth plan of what we want. he is really cool and cheif of staff at the hospital so he can make it happen. I didn't get to hold my baby right away because I was put under. My son was born at 6:09p.m. and I didn't get to hold him until about 109:00 ( i think) I had to be in recovery for a while and then i was so shaky, tired, etc it was just hard. this time it will be different.

I was required to hold my son while I was being wheeled into recovery. However, I had been given some strong narcotics while in labor, and I reacted badly to them. I didn't even know where I was. Worse than that, the drugs had crossed the placenta and my son wouldn't wake up. He was about 12 hours old when we were both awake enough to enjoy the moment.

I have to smile when I type this because this just happened almost 4 weeks ago and i'm holding my baby right now......I had an unplanned c-section and they gave me a spinal. I didn't see the baby come out, but my husband did. After they cleaned him up and swaddled him, they unstrapped one of my arms and placed him on my chest as they were fixing me up....I will never ever forget how he looked and how he looks now as I look down on him with his head resting on my chest.....most wonderful feeling in the world.

I had an unplanned c section also. My husand was the first to get to hold the baby, but I was in recovery in my own room, so everyone was in there and I got to watch her first bath, footpringts, etc. I was the second to hold her. I had a spinal block, and then had really bad itching afterwards, so they gave me benadryl and that made me sleep. I really dont remember much about the night she was born, but I do remember holding her and listening to her scream! lol

this also confused me as with my 2 sections my babies never got took away from me at all.as soon as they were born they were placed on my chest and then my husband sat at the side of me with the baby while i was st_tched up and we all went to recovery together and then up to the ward, unless there is a medical reason for getting separated from your babies then they should not be taken away from you at all.however all hospital are different but in most hospitals in scotland they don't believe in separation unless nesesary.
