Congratulations, vjr, some may disagree with pt. choice c-sections due to the risks, but I am in the medical field because I care about people and I am very, very happy to hear you have a wonderful outcome and a healthy daughter. Bless you all.

Congrats, vjr. Perhaps those you name have very valid reasons for trying to dissuade women from having c-sections without cause. Yes, negative stories impact others, but all is not fun and candy with c-sections either and those with unhappy experiences should be understood too. Very glad you had a positive experience and hope all is well with you and your baby. I am in nursing school and just last night a__sisted with 3 perfectly managed v____al births and to me, they had the ideal birth experiences and that is exactly what they verbalized.

Hi vjr, I too had a positive c-section experience. My boy was 4.5 wks early and footling breech and my water had broken. So I had no other option. I was just relieved that the baby was healthy. AS it was a major abdominal surgery, it did take some time to recover, but that was ok too. THis time 'im 20 wks and was hoping to try for a VBAC to avoid this recovery time. But since I'm now having twins they are firm that I have another section. I'm ok with that as this time I'm high risk as well. I'm not too disappointed as my section was pretty good last time and after-all I just want healthy babies. Good luck to everyone.

djh i'm happy to hear the those women felt that their vagianl births were the ideal birth experiance i would hope that all women who give birth without complications would feel that way, i know i did. I would never say mine birth was the mold for the ideal birth and as a nurse i hope you have an open mind, it sounds like you feel v____al births are the only "ideal" birth and i hope you don't present that view to your patients. I think csections get a bad wrap and unfortunatly alot of women go into having theirs with anxiety and fear, if it wasnt for my medical team being so carring and willing to talk and go over every detail i would have been a nervous wreck. I am a doula and understand i have to be opened minded about all methods of birth and try to tell my clients the same thing, the most important part of any birth is a healthy mom and child, hope you send out the same message...

Hi vjr, no I do not present v____al births as the only "ideal" birth experience, that would be unrealistic, however as you know as a doula an uncomplicated, well managed v____al birth is indeed preferable than an uncomplicated surgical delivery. All things being equal the risk/benefit ratio dramatically shifts in favor of v____al delivery, especially re: RDS for the infant and the risk of thrombi and emboli for the mother. At any rate, I am very pleased you had a wonderful birth experience and that your baby is healthy. Congrats again.
