I am thinking about getting an elective
c-section, but I hear so many painful stories.
Knowing what you know now, would you have had the c-section or would you rather of had a va___al birth?

hello i would rather have a v____al only b/c i want several kids and the more c's you have the higher the risk of problems to your organs...i had my 2nd c and my uterus was adhered to my bladder and colon...so i am ttc with #3 and scared of the delivery...i am so neither one is a walk in the park, but i would opt for a natural if i had the choice...what are your reasons for an elective c?

I have had two one of each, and v____al and c-section.I would opt for the c-section,read more about this subject on these links, there are loads, scared of giving birth,s-section vs v____al.I wonder if you read all those before asking the question.

i had my first daughter via c-section because she was breech...i thought that was the best thing ever after hearing my friends v____al delvery stories...i am opting to have the second baby via c-section also but only because the docs say that this baby will also be large...my daughter was 9lbs 10 oz...but i think if i had an option the first time around i would of gone with v____al birth because you do increase your risk of complications with each c-section

I would trade anything but my now healthy children for a v____al delivery!!! 37.5 hours of abnormal labor w/zero progress was still a lot less painful than c-sections and hemorrhages and then scar tissue-induced hysterectomy. Do NOT choose this, you are not avoiding pain and you would just be trading some types of damage for others!

I am very sorry to hear about your experience from the c-sections. But in addition to pregnancy putting pressure on the pelvic floor, maybe it was the FOUR c-sections that caused some of your problems as well. Remember that doctors try to caution women about the number of c-sections they should have and there is a reason for that, because of the scar tissue, etc. Even though I know a woman who has had eight c-sections, more than two or three c-sections may cause problems for some women. The doctor should have noticed your scar tissue and incontinence problems after your second or third c-section and should have cautioned you not to have a fourth baby or maybe even not to have had a third. But you are very blessed to have those precious angels in your life and you are very selfless for continuing on to have more children when you may have been experiencing pelvic floor and incontinence problems after your first few c-sections. I only wish my doctor had been more careful. I had a v____al delivery to deliver my six pound baby girl and that is where all of my problems started. I am wearing a colostomy today because of it. I was too small and there was severe damage done to me to get her out. The doctor admitted afterwards that I should have had a c-section. Too late now, though. So v____al delivery is not perfect either. At least you are not wearing a colostomy. I guess all of us will have difference experiences.

I just had my second c-section. I don't regret it at all. My first was an emergency c-section, and with my second baby the doctor said I could try VBAC, but I didn't want to. The planned c-section went much more smoothly than my first. I went to the hospital at 8 am and by 11 am I was holding my baby. There is some pain involved in the recovery, but I've never had a v____al birth so I can't really compare it with anything. The first 4 or 5 days you're pretty sore, after that it's not so bad.

I hemorrhaged during and after my 2nd and 3rd c-sections. After my last child I started having bladder problems, terrible monthly bleeding probs. etc. and after years of suffering had a hysterectomy in which they found scar tissue on my tubes, ovaries, other abdominal tissues and my bladder had to be cut away from my uterus. End of all problems due to c-sections.

Unless there is a medical reason for a C-Section like no dialation, birth ca___l not big enough, breech, health risk I don't believe it should be an elective procedure. I am due to have my third C-Section in Nov not by choice I would have rather had my children v____ally but after laying in the hospital from Fri night to early Sun morning and not progressing even after they doubled my petocin I never made it past 5 they took my daughter by emergency C, with my son we talked about a VBAC but I ended up having to have another C-Section once they opened my up the DR said I would have never been able to have him natural so when I ended up pregnant again I wasn't given a choice it was an automatic C no questions asked. I can't say v____al is easier or harder I don't know because I never progressed to find out. It is true about the scarring they said I had a lot of scar tissue and contusions from my daughters C the nurse had to climb on top of me to push my son down to get him out and I am not sure exactly how difficult this C will be but don't a__sume that it will be a walk in the park. With a C you can't drive for 2 weeks some-times 4-6 weeks all depends on how you heal. You can't walk up and down stairs for 2 weeks. You can't lift anything over 10 lbs. You have to do breathing exercises so you don't get pneumonia. You have a burning sensation in your sides and abs from the nerves that they had to cut through to perform the C. You have to stay in the hospital for 3-5 days. You also have staples usually around 20 in your abs and you can't shower for about 3 days you can just wash off. You also risk infections in the incision which i never had but know a couple of people who did and it was awful for them. You have to place a pillow on your stomach when coughing or sneezing to prevent the incision from opening up for about a week or longer. This isn't all of the things that happen after a C-Section do some research

I think it varies somewhat by doctor and by hospital. I just had a c-section and I was able to shower the next day, and to climb stairs as soon as I went home. I didn't have to do any breathing exercises (I did with my first c-section). I also had a really small incision, compared to my first. I was walking the halls of the hospital 10 hours after the c-section, for exercise. Of course there are some unpleasant things about the c-section, like the catheter and the gas pains afterwards, but I've had friends who had a v____al birth and were more messed up than me (one who's pelvis separated, and one who tore really badly).

people pa__s on their own experiences,Marcie had one of each and prefered her c-section.I also have to add, that I had a cesarean and was worried when people said its major surgery, but I found it no big deal, and that was yrs ago,my sister-in-law just had a v____al birth,a few mths ago,and is still feeling the aftereffects now.So it is not true to say after a v____al birth its over, complications can arise.

I was induced due to pre-eclampsia, and ended up having a C-section after 24 hours of labor and 2 hours of pushing, cause the baby wouldn't move below my pelvic bone. I was up and walking 4 hours after the C-section, and showered (with help) the next day. I had to stay in the hospital for 5 days after the surgery, because I developed hypertension, and had to be on a magnesium drip. I really really regret the c-section; I feel like I missed out on something by not being able to deliver v____ally. With my next, I pray I won't have to be induced - I feel like, this time, if I hadn't been induced earlier than my baby was ready to be born, she would've been able to be delivered v____ally.

I have had 2 v____als and one elective c-section. I enjoyed the whole birthing process more with my v____al births. While neither was "easy", after my st_tches dissolved down below I was fine! With the cesarean I was in pain for 2-3 weeks and have had bladder problems ever since. It has been 12 mths and now I need the scar tissue on my bladder removed. I am actually quite angry because so many v____al moms told me to ask for a c-section because they said they heard it was the easy way out. Also, I am angry at my doctor as he said I wouldn't have any problems with one cs. Everybody lied, don't ask for a surgery you don't need.

I had my first baby via c-section in Sept (2004). I must say I was kind of relieved when my Dr. said the baby was too big (4.2 kgs) to pa__s down the birth ca___l. My pain threshold is ridiculously low. The c-section was painful during the first few hours atfer the op. But I tried to get out of bed and walk around soon and often, and I think it actually helped. I have 3 friends who've given birth v____ally and all have torn badly and have had to have st_tches down there anyway. It's been a little over a year now and I am fine, just that when it gets cold the scar does get a little sore, but it's not too bad. Good luck, I don't regret what happened to me, I think it was God's way of getting me thru coz there's no way I was gonna do the pushing thing and live to tell the tale!!! I actually HOPE and pray my next baby will be via c-section as well!!!
