My doc said 6 weeks afer both of my c-sections. I've never been good at doing what I was told...after my first c-section I waited 10 days for s_x, after my second I waited 3 weeks. The reason they say to wait is because of the risk of infection. (same reason you can't use tampons) If you were in labor for a while before your c-section, you might need more time to heal inside.

were your c sections planned? i checked into the hospital at 1:30am and was sent in for a c section at 4pm. Im not to sure if that was long or not, just had my first baby. How was your body after 10 days? were you still in pain? its been 16 days since mine, im not in perfect shape, but not in the worse. Im wondering what kind of infection?

I had my first c-section after they tried for two days to induce. I didn't dialate at all and I never had any contractions. I probably shouldn't have had s_x as soon as I did...some of it was that my baby wasn't home yet and I wasn't sure if we'd have time for s_x once she was home, some of it was that I wanted to feel like myself again. I think the reason they worry about infection is because the inside of the uterus where the placenta attached that is like an open sore at first. I didn't get an infection from it, didn't even know that was a possibility then (before I had the internet)...it wasn't the greatest s_x I ever had, but my husband was careful not to put any weight on the incision, and it felt all right.

I would wait more than the 6 weeks, it makes your insides sore...At least that's how it was with me.
