Vbac After 3 Ceareans

I was wondering if anyone had a vbac after 3 c-sections? My 1st was due to failure to progress but basically rhe next two were elective. Although I did labor a bit with #3 and almost made it to 5cm. I am due end of July and am so anxious about having another c-section especially since I had an emergency appendectomy just a month ago. I would like to avoid another abdominal surgery if possible. Of course I think about adhesions and such. Also, I don't know why but since my last pregnancy I've been feeling really emotional about the whole c-section thing. I never felt bad about it before but lately I've been feeling that I really want to have a baby va___ally, the way nature intended. It looks like I will have another section because I haven't been able to find a doctor very supportive of vbac yet and time is passing. What does anyone suggest to help the emotional healing after a section. Also, does anyone know a doctor willing to perform a vba3c?

Is a vbac after 3 sections safe?

Please do not try a VBAC.I too wanted a normal delivery after a c- section. Just a month ago today I had a uterine rupture during my VBAC. My son died as a result. He went without oxygen for 20 minutes, he was born brain dead. Do not risk it!!!!

Look for a midwife, and look into your options about having a doula with you. Those two things drastically reduce your chances of another section, and most midwives support VBAC. And yes, VBAC after 3 sections is safe. Your risks increase after each Cesarean, but not by much, and your risks still aren't too high. Websites to check out: www.midwife.org (American College of Nurse-Midwives) www.mana.org (Midwives Alliance of North America) Good luck to you.

you can totally have a vba3c, especially if you had low transverse incisions. the risk of rupture is way lower with low transverse incisions, and, if you do rupture with a low transverse, the vast majority of the time it is benign and you and baby are fine. the risks of vba3c if you have had low transverse incisions is less than the risks of having another section. find a midwife and a doula, like jill said.

Given that you've had an appendectomy less than a month ago and are due in July most doctors and midwives would recommend a repeat c-section. Your abdominal surgery for your appendix is just too close to the birth. Any form of delivery with a good outcome for the baby is fine in my book. Good luck with the birth.

Many malpractice insurances are not allowing drs to perfomr vbacs due to the risk involved. Check with your state to see if the state's malpractice insurance will even allow it. As of Jan. 2005 OK's biggest malpractice provider no longer covers drs to do elective vbacs.

NO i have had 3 c-sections and would never have a vbac

caroline, what do you think would be the main concern involving the appendectomy being too close to the birth?

Ang.....I am pregnant with my second child after a c-section. I asked my doctor today about a vbac and she said it was out of the question. She says it to dangerous! If you hemorage...they only have 3 minutes to get things done to get the baby out! That is not enough time to get you prepped. Don't take the chance. Stick with what works for you.

I have read many things about VBAC, and talked to many different doctors. They have all said that if anything goes wrong, they have 17 minutes to get the baby out without before it becomes a problem. Most of the time, they have warning that a problem is coming and will do a section before it becomes an emergency. Just surround yourself with people that will support your choice.

I have had 3 natural births after 2 c-sections. It is so much better have natural. The labor isn't fun, but the recovery is so much better. I had a mid-wife who did my first vbac. A different mid-wife do my second vbac and a male doctor do my third vbac. Right now my mid-wife here would do a vbac, but the hospital has had too many law suits that she cannot I would have to have another c-section and I don't want to do that so I am willing to drive over an hour to the nearest hospital to deliver natuaral again.
