What is everyone doing for a prenatal vitamin? In the past I've taken Stuart's - but I can't seem to find them on the grocery or pharmacy shelves anymore. So I'm looking for a good alternative.
I've read a lot of advice on what a prenatal vitamin should contain (from the Mayo Clinic, WebMD, books, etc.), as well as how prenatal vitamins compare in terms of their effectiveness (absorption, etc.). I also read about a couple prenatal vitamins that were recalled (mostly Precare). But mostly all this does is tell me what not to take - or what falls short.
Just as a guideline, this is supposedly what a prenatal vitamin should contain:
400 mcg of folic acid
400 IU of vitamin D
200 to 300 mg of calcium
70 mg of vitamin C
3 mg of thiamine
2 mg of riboflavin
20 mg of niacine
6 mcg of vitamin B12
10 mg of vitamin E
15 mg of zinc
17 mg of iron
