Actually, no. Chai contains (among other things) anise which is a no-no during pregnancy.

Oh, it's fine as long as you don't over-do it. At least, I've been drinking it. Depending on the type of chai, it may or may not contain anise. Most herbs which are contradicted for pregnancy have to be taken in large quant_ties to be a problem -- like, I would say, if you were worried about anise, don't have anise tea twice a day, but if there's a little in your food (or chai) a couple of times a week, it's probably fine. The main thing to worry about is caffeine. A good strong chai will have almost as much as coffee, but one cup in a day is still probably well below the 300 mg daily recommended limit.
