Coffee

Hi there. I'm not sure if I'm pregnant yet, I have at least 9-10 days to find out. But I was wondering if I can be drinking coffee during the period that I'm waiting. At what point does it negatively affect the baby? I don't drink a lot, just a cup or two a day. Thanks!

the second i thought i might be pregnant i gave up caffeine and i love coffee and diet coke! i think it's a personal choice more than anything, you want your body to be as healthy as possible and if you are pregnant now in the very early stages it's important that you're taking care of yourself. if you're not on a prenatal vitamin yet you should pick up one of those too! good luck!

300mg of caffeine is considered a safe daily consumption when pregnant. I cut back to one cup of coffee a day while TTC. I was normally about 2 cups a day, plus a diet coke. I'm glad I made the adjustment when I did...one less thing to have to modify or go thru w/d! I have drank 1 cup of coffee a day since becoming pg and am now 30wk pg. My dr. said this is completely fine. Yes, it's a personal choice, but small amts of caffeine have been proven safe and if you're like me, you are a zombie/bi-otch w/o her morning cup of Joe! Hope you get that BFP.

I was able to give up coffee easily once pregnant becuase of the morning sickness! Being in the same room as coffee made me ill. I have kept drinking a coke about 3 times a week and my doctor says this is fine.

Thanks. I'm cutting back a little until I find out for sure. I am definitely a zombie without my coffee/tea in the morning! Especially lately I have been exhausted all day even with it. I don't necessarily attribute that to being pregnant just yet. I have some other issues that contribute to my fatigue. Thanks again.

my doc says a cup or 2 is no problem. i usually have a cup of coffee and a soda in any given day which rounds out to about 250 mg's of caffeine. Good luck! Also - if you are trying to get pregnant it is OK to consult and make appointments with an OBGYN... they can give you their perspective on this. these days they are saying you should make apointments and start taking prenatal vit's before you even get pregnant! (I didnt mine was a complete surprise...) but good luck anyways!!

I've been drinking a cup of coffee on most days of the week...and so far everything is fine. Like venus_in_scorpio says...2 cups is ok.
