Fish

Hi, I am pregnant of my first baby and quite nervous.. When I was 8 weeks pregnant I had Marlin in a restaurant unaware this was a type of 'forbidden' fish. Now I am extremely worried that I have caused the baby damage due to the mercury levels in this type of fish. I wonder if any of you has done something similar and could put my mind at ease. Thanx

I don't eat meat or poultry and only eat fish, so I've read a lot on the subject to make sure I'm doing the right thing (i'm 12 weeks). I just read an article that says that eating more than 12oz of fish in one week (so i think for that matter one piece of "forbidden"fish) is not sufficient enough to raise the mercury levels to a dangerous level. You have to do it consistently. It says just modify and make up for the "overdose" the next week. I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as you're not eating it every week. But call your doctor just to put your mind at ease. Don't worry-the baby's fine.

I would consult your doctor just to check.

as long as you're not indulging in it EVERY single day, you'll be fine.
