Folate Vs Folic Acid

I am 5 weeks pregnant and have been taking a prenatal supplement for the last two months. I recently noted that on the supplement facts table, rather than 'Folic Acid' being list, it listed 'Folate (as folic acid) 800 mcg (100% daily value)'. Does this mean that I am getting my folic acid just in a different form? Should I get a 'folic acid' supplement in addition to the one I'm taking now?

Dear Lynn, No, you don't need an extra supplement. Taking an 800mcg of folate supplies enough folic acid for your pregnancy needs.
