Food Issues

Okay....I'm so sick and tired of there being a new thing each day that I can't eat. Here is the list of stuff that I've heard can be a problem: Soy (causes autism), mozzerella (something about soft cheeses), broccoli (don't really know why on that one). It's amazing us pregnant women gain any weight at all considering the fear they put in us! Didn't our moms eat whatever they wanted, drank all the coffee they wanted and not to mention the booze. I'm sorry I just have to vent! Now, I do have one cup of REAL coffee a day, I try to be careful about what I eat but I swear there is a new item added to the list everyday. Does anyone know about these foods? Is what they are saying true or a bunch of B.S.

i agree! i stay away from the soft cheeses now, but during my 1st trimester (before i knew better), brie and cheese and crackers was about all i could keep down. i love soft cheeses. i remember one day, i was eatting a hot dog and my friend yelled at me. she told me "pregnant women can't eat hot-dogs." i was like "are you friggin' kidding me?!" it turns out we just need to make sure the hot-dogs are cooked well. we're also supposed to stay away from cold deli meats, b/c of liseria. i just heat all my meat in the microwave before making a sandwich. the list goes on and on...the list of what we can eat is probably shorter than the one of what we can't! i don't know how much is true and what's BS, but there are pregnant women in other countries that can't afford to be so picky and they manage to have healthy babies. we're not supposed to eat tuna more than once a week or fish thats high in mercury at all, but i'm sure pregnant scandanavian women eat alot of fish.

Just eat healthy foods that are as close to their natural state as possible. Eat lots of fruits and veggies and take your multi. Omega 3 fatty acids are important I use ground flax seeds. I'm so full eating all these things I need, I don't even think about what I have to avoid. I also eat half a cup of walnuts a day, I;m really going for that brain development stuff. Look at it from the other side, not what you can't have. It makes things much more plesant.
