Losing Weight While Pregnant Help

Hello, I am about 8 1/2 weeks pregnant (BUT that is a guess I could be more or less) And at about four weeks when I first found out I was pregnant I weighed 202 pounds. I weighed myself this morning and I was 193.8. That's almost 10 pounds dropped. I've been eating better but not so much to have lost 10 pounds. Can anyone tell me if pregnancy causes your metabolism to speed up? I'm happy about the weight loss but just want to make sure this is normal.

Your body is growing a baby, so that means that your body needs more calories to maintain the same weight. If you are eating about the same amount of calories as before you are probably losing weight because your baby is using it to grow. Often women lose weight in the first trimester because they are not feeling good enough to eat or other symptoms are bothering them. However, I would suppose that you will be seeing a doctor soon and I would ask them to make sure. I hope that helps!
