I am 8 weeks pregnant and I ate steamed crabs and could only keep down toasted turkey subs for about a week. I am new to the diet dos and donts so I am freaking out because I ate some of the items on the very long "no no" list! Please help give me some insight !

What did you eat that you shouldn't have? As far as I know you can still eat seafood as long as it's cooked, just not large amount of fish that might contain mercury. They usually only recommending staying away from things with high allergy rates eg: shell fish, peanuts if you have known family allergies. I am 5wks preg with #3 & I ate seafood & peanut b___ter through both previous pregnancies & my bubs were big & healthy, & I will eat it with this one if that's what I crave. It is important to stay away from uncooked meats, uncooked eggs & other foods that might contain listeria, as the baby can't process even the smallest amount & it can lead to deformities & stillbirth. If you are really concerned talk to your doctor for more info.

I think you are fine. Everything E5 said, I agree. I eat lunch meat only if it is heated. I think the toasted sub was fine (sounds pretty good right now!). I have had lobster, crab legs, shrimp, ocean fish, lake fish, etc and I am fine. I am currently 27 weeks. I ordered Eggs Benedict yesterday at brunch and had them hard cook the poached egg as much as I wanted the yoke to run all over my plate...I also have eaten peanut b___ter regularly. There is a lot of info available on the internet so a little research will help you a lot. Good luck in the next 7 months. Congrats!
