I am in my 6th week and recently had a serving of sea bass at a dinner. Is the mercury content in the fish gonna harm the pregnancy?

Hi Cyn,

Sea ba__s has actually been stricken from the safe foods list. It has been shown to contain higher levels of mercury and should be avoided. Canned tuna is safe but make sure you don't eat more than 12 ounces per week. Also avoid shark, swordfish, kink mackerel, fresh tuna and tilefish. Also make sure you avoid anything, fish or meat, that has been undercooked. Especially if it has been ground or processed. Always cook meats and fish until they are steaming hot!

Sorry, Frances, but your comments were incredibly rude and insensitive. There are literally thousands of places on the web you can read about unsafe fish and the dangers and bad effects of mercury in pregnancy.
But the fact is that some people are not perfect, and may forget, especially early in pregnancy or on a single occasion, not to eat fish! It's called being human. And if it turns out the fish is on the bad list, as sea ba__s is, they're trying to find some actual facts or stories which could tell them that their baby has a chance to be OK. Let's hear from the humans out there who weren't perfect during pregnancy, but the baby turned out fine, or not fine. Comment with real stories, not warnings that we already know.
