Chocolate And Pregnancy

I read this study and ate one piece of dark choclate almost everyday throughout my pregnancy. I have a 3 month old little girl who is the happiest baby, she smiles alot and doesn't cry often.

I read to stay away from the dark chocolates (which are my favorites) because of the caffiene content but it's OK to eat milk chocolates and medium chocolate.

My sister ate a lot of chocolate when she was pregnant and my niece is always happy. I've been eating a lot of chocolate because it makes me happy. Women need to quit freaking out over stupid things like chocolate. As long as we aren't drinking, smoking, taking drugs and we keep the stress down our babies will be happy too.

I heard this the other day and it is also supposed to make them brainier due to your body releasing a chemical in the body when you eat it. I think the chemical is called satosin or something like that.

I never ate chocolate while pregnant and my baby never cried and was very happy.

What's the deal here? Does chocolate have caffeine or not? Who really know? You all sound confused and you are confusing me.

The darker the chocolate the higher the caffene as their is more real cocoa; the antioxidant levels are greater and the calories are fewer. The lighter the chocolate the less there antioxidant power, caffene, but more calories. I love the dark chocolate but since I've been pregnant I only have it occasionally and lean more towards the milk, even though it has higher fat.

Well that explains why my daughter was such a happy infant. I was addicted to chocolate brownies

i live in the Uk and I have never heard of pregnant women being told not to eat chocolate. Chocolate is good for releasing endorphins and seratonin (feel good hormones) apparently. I am not really sweet toothed until this pregnancy. I have been craving chocolate bars and cakes a lot. I say go with the craving or you'll drive yourself and everyone else mad til you get it. If you eat in moderation its ok. There are worse things than eating chocolate mmmmmm. Got the notion now lol.

I am known as the world's biggest chocoholic around friends and family. There is always something chocolate (usually freshly baked) at my house. I am 5 wks pregnant and don't plan on changing a thing. I eat it everyday- not gorge on it. I'm 27 and still wear the same size I did in jr. high. It takes me several bites to finish one Reese cup or anything else. Lately, I've loved eating my Little Debbie Swiss Cake Rolls at night with a cup of lowfat milk- usually I can only eat one roll. My mom said the last month that she was pregnant with me she drank a chocolate shake every day- which was the middle of summer and people always tell me that I smile all the time and was also identified as gifted. Bring on the CHOCOLATE!

Um, yeah, I tried to give up chocolate. Then Christmas came around. It makes me happy, me happy = happy baby. Plus, I read somewhere that caffine isn't as dangerous as previously thought: "You can still enjoy your favorite caffeinated drinks as long as you don't overdo it. After years of controversy over the issue, most researchers now believe that, although caffeine does cross the placenta, moderate amounts (less than 300 milligrams a day) won't harm your baby. That's about what you'd get from two or three 8-ounce cups of coffee or six cans of cola.)" Indulge, Augustus Gloops!

Well, I did hear the miscarriage was less common among women who ate chocolate.... so ladies, let's all get to eating!!!

I was just abot to post a question regarding chocolates also, when I read all these confusing comments. Everybody is saying different things. Many ppl told me to stay away from chocolates, sushi, and watermelon.
