Ann...so sorry to hear about your loss! It's devastating, isn't it. Well, I'm trying again and I too took off about a month. I am doing IVF so that means that I've got to give myself shots everyday...uggg... But I too am planning on taking off a week around the time of "implantation". Even after I lost my week old pregnancy, I still had night sweats for several days after that. Of course, I haven't had night sweats for a long while now...wish me luck...

Ugh, someone sent me this link after I was asking about night sweats. Last night I woke up freezing cold and totally sweaty two or three times. Very unpleasant. I don't know whether to try to get cooler or warmer! I'm almost nine weeks, third pregnancy, never had this before.

I am just two weeks pregnant (ivf) and I started having hot flashes ( nose, ears, and head felt and they sting) two days before the positive pregnancy test. I had chills on my arms almost immediately. I didn't realize the chills bumps on my arms were related to the hot flashes. Interesting... The past few nights I have had major night sweats and extreme difficulty going back to sleep-- mostly because of the anxiety and worry the hot flash caused me emotionally than the actual flash. Experiencing them stresses me out and causes anxiety which makes them so much WORSE--- I don't think I'll get as stressed about them now-- at least I'll try. I am on high doses of the IVF drugs (estrogen and progestrone), I thought the hot flashes might be because of the drugs and my own hormones going nuts with the early pregnancy, but it sounds like it might be a part of the pregnancy the whole time. It is nice to know I'm not crazy-- I haven't heard much about hot flashes being a part of pregnancy. I wonder why not? Does anyone elses nose and ears tingle and burn as a part of the hot flash?
Thanks-- and sorry to be so wordy.

I am only 11 weeks and had one last night and the night before. Mind you, I did have the odd one before I was pregnant.
I have heard that your metabolism increases and your body temperature rises so that probably accounts for it. I am no doctor but am sure that it's pretty normal. I think some people tend to wake up before they get to that point. I just fester under the duvet and don't wake up until both I and the bed is soaking. Gross I know!

I am 5 weeks pregnant and had an episode of night sweats last night. I called my doc and he said it may be the flu, but then reading what everyone else is saying about it, makes me feel better. I am also having bad insomnia, it takes forever to fall asleep, and I worry this is bad for the developing baby.... anyone else in the same situation? HELP

I posted here about 10 weeks ago. I'm current 16 wks 5 days pregnant. My night sweats have gotten much better. For me, it's all about staying warm at night. If I fall asleep with the a/c on, I'll inevitably wake up drenched b/c my body was trying to warm me up. I still think it's a hormonal thing that some women go through, some don't. But, of course, if you're concerned, you should always talk to your health care provider and follow any recommendations they have.

yep. I am 23 weeks pregnant and have had night sweats occasionally throughout, but in the past couple of weeks have had them more frequently. I also have them as a pre-menstrual symptom. That's how I know my period is coming very soon. So that obviously means it's hormones but what I'm never sure of is--rising or dropping? and which hormones exactly? I drink a lot of water during the day.
I guess it's okay since I've gotten this far and all else is fine but I too have been concerned at times (and downright uncomfortable! yuck.)

I am about 5 wks pg and have woken up the past three nights in a puddle of sweat. It is so uncomfortable...much like the frequent potty breaks in the middle of the night! I thought it was just me, but I am comforted knowing others have experienced this as well.
