Can braxton hicks cause any harm to my baby? I had my first experience with this lastnight, it was awfully painful. I wasn't sure what was going on, so I just tried my best to be comfortable. It eventually subsided, but I'm worried because I didn't call my doctor lastnight and wondering if BH can harm my child in any way?

No it can't as far as I know. It's totally normal to prepare your body for labor.

Braxton Hicks are perfectally normal. They can happen anytime late in your second trimester or in your third trimester. It's basically your bodies way of preparing for labor. They should last between 30-60 seconds and they will get stronger and can even be painful the closer you are to delivery. The general rule if you get more than 4 in an hour call your doctor because it could be a sign of preterm labor.
