Anyone else having a problem with this? I could barely move my hands when I woke up this morning. Any ideas how to deal with it?

I have started having a problem with it! My right hand has given me fits at night for the past few nights, getting worse each night. It goes to sleep, takes forever to wake up and aches. iread in my "What to expect when you're expecting" book that you should sleep with yoru hand(s) elevated. It helped when I tried it last night! Also, if you type or use your hands and wrists a lot during the day you should try ti keep your wrist straight as possible and if you type, type lightly. It also suggested a wrist brace but I'm not sure if you're supposed to wear it all day or just at night.

I started suffering (and still do) from carpel tunnel during my first pregnancy. It was horrible and my hands were numb and hurt all night. I saw a doctor who specialized in carpel tunnel and wrote me a script for some wrist braces to wear at night and during the day if needed. I only wear mine at night and it helps tremendously. It was so awkward getting used to them at first, but now I can't sleep without them. My hands stay numb and pain free all night. You can purchase them at any Medical Supply Store. Meijers and K-mart carry them too but they aren't as comfortable or as effective as the others. They measure your wrists for proper fit and are under $20 if your insurance won't cover it. I highly recommend them until you are ready for the carpel tunnel surgery!!!! Goood Luck! N

I have been having the same problem, but in both hands. The pain starts at the bottom of my palm to half way up my arm. I have made sure that I am not sleeping on my arms. This just started about a week ago. I can't lift hardly anything or move/turn my hands in certain directions. Is this carpel tunnel? What should I do? It hurts so bad...I'm in pain just typing this. Good luck girls!

I am having the same problem and when I talked to my doctor about it, she said it is quite normal during pregnancy. Well, it hurts really bad and wakes me up during the night. Now I have to wear a wrist brace for both of my wrist at night and during the day. They say it usually goes away after you have the baby. I can only hope so!

I'm a pastry chef and have carpel tunnel in my left wrist. My OB said I could get a shot in the wrist. Had it done 1 1/2 months ago and no problems since. it was so bad I couldn't pull my covers up on the bed at night or even use the toilet without severe pain. The shot caused no harm to the baby. I would suggest it to anyone.
