I'm now almost 38 weeks, and that rib pain never left. I know now it's feet kicking them. I see them all the time. It doesn't go away, but it's my only real ailment, so I've learned to cope with it. :)

I am 33 weeks. This annoying pain began about 3 weeks ago. NOTHING helps me at all, except sometimes if I lay back in the recliner and raise my right arm over my head. Sometimes the pain radiates into my right ear as well.

My pain is directly below my right b___st and extends to my back. My doctor says that it is too high for it to be my gall bladder. She said it is just the muscles around my rib expanding to make room for my ever growing uterus...no remedies were offered.

I had those pains mostly under my ribs... I was told it was 'normal'. I have been having weird back pains- I just posted it as a new thread (if anyone has any answers, I'd appreciate it).

I also have severe pain in my right side around my rib and into my back. I had this pain with my 4th pregnancy and was told it was my gallbladder. Had an ultrasound done on it and was told to avoid fatty foods. I am now pregnant (27 weeks) with my 5th child. The pain is back and is excruciating at times. I was suppost to get another ultrasound done but had to cancel my appointment. I have been doing search for gallbldder problems during pregnancy on the internet and I have all of the signs of gallstones. I recommend you do the same. Again, I have been told to avoid fatty foods. I am trying. I do notice I am in a lot more pain after I eat foods high in fats other than fruits or vegetables, but this is not always true. I am also losing sleep at night because the pain is so severe that it wakes me up and I have not discovered any way of getting relief. I look forward to having this baby and getting my body back to normal. I can handle childbirth much better than this.

I too am having excruciating pain in my right side just under by b___st. The pain is so bad at times I actually look forward to childbirth. I have found ma__sage helpful but it doesn't make the pain go away. I called a chiropractor today and and acupuncturist today and am hoping for even a little relief. I went for an ultrasound to get my galbladder checked no gall stones. The pain goes from my my right rib and to my right shoulder blade. It may be my ribs expanding but the pain feels too specific, I can almost put my finger on it.

I can't believe that at the end of this long chain nobody has an answer or a cure!! I'm 18 weeks and have had upper right rib, moving to back pain, everyday for 7 weeks. It is too soon to be any pressure from the baby. My life is becoming very difficult. The only releif is to lye flat. I now have a camping matress in my office at work which I have to take to every few hours or so! I have had every kidney, gallbladder, blood test, ultrasound etc but no one can diagnose or ever offer any solution to the problem or pain releif! I have tried body stress relief on my back. Where do we go from here?

I am 24 weeks along and have the same pain in my right rib cage area.
I just returned from my OBGYN's office and he informed me that this is normally due to the ligaments stretching. The pain should ease. However you should be concerned if the pain is much stronger after eating.
Hope this helps.

The RIGHT side/rib pain this the most UNDEFINED aliment of pregnancy. They should give a Nibel Peace Prize to the person who figures out exactly what it is, as it seems "normal" and "typical" are not comforting professional medical answers. (I always laufgh that Braxton Hicks is named for the MAN who discovered them, trust me, a MAN didn't discover them, he only NAMED them. I hope some pioneer in medicine will research it and find a relief remedy for it before I have #2!!! Best wishes everyone! I now kiss the feet that once kicked those ribs... Hang in there. Li in PA

It has taken me MONTHS to find a site where others were enduring this very same pain - as everyone else said - what a relief. I don't even mind that we don't know what it is, so much, only am relieved that I am not alone and crazy.

This rib pain is a real shock - I criss-crossed my arms in front of my body to pull an exercise bra off over my head the other day and nearly shrieked in pain. But it is NOT like gallbladder pain. I had mine out 5 years ago, and just to let you know - there's no comparison. A gallbladder attack is excruciating, and I was vomiting because I was in so much pain and had to go to the emergency room. But I would still like to know why nobody ever told me I would be in constant discomfort like this so early - starting at 12 weeks (although with twins). I can't wait to feel "normal" again!

Great i'm not the only one with the annoying rib and back pain. It is a sharp pain that runs mostly under my right rib and extends to my right shoulder blade. I think it is the baby sticking her foot or b___t up there. It keeps me up all night. I am 38 weeks, i am so looking forward to going into labor already. i can't take this rib and back pain. Also lately it has been accompanied by a burning feeling on the whole upper part of my belly under my b___sts that makes the skin feel very sensitive to the touch. I have been up all night tossing and turning for the past week. Does anyone know what the burning feeling is though? Sometimes i feel something toxic has leaked into my stomach causing me to feel this burning sensation. Im i the only one who has this?

i have had this also, It started about 2 months ago, I am now 32 wks. I finally went to a chiropractor that works on pregnant women, she said about 1/3 of her preg patients have this and it is nerve pain. It affects the same nerve that is often affected with shingles. She has helped me so much. It has not went away by any means, but I am able to be up all day and not be in a total misery. My bra gives me fits, I finally found that is huge on me and I can kind of stand it. When it starts hurting I push on that area and hold it for a while and try to stretch out. It also helps to sit and stand as straight as possible. Driving is sometimes pretty uncomfortable. But I am MUCH better than I was...... So hang in there and try to find a chiropractor that is gentle and knows something about this strange pain.
