I am 5 weeks pregnant. This is my 2nd pregnancy. I have been having cramping off and on since my period was due. Yesterday I started having a warm burning/cramping sensation in my left groin. Totally paranoid it is ectopic. I have a drs. appt. tomorrow. No bleeding or shooting pain though.

I'm only 6 wks and have been having groin pain for the past few days. Not too serious, feels a lot like the mild cramps I've been having, just lower. I've been trying to convince myself it was just things stretching and that nothing is wrong. I feel better now that I know I'm not alone!

Hi I am 5 weeks and for the last 3 days have had cramping in my abdomen and groin like bad period pains. No bleeding just discomfort. THe doctor just says it is too early to see anything. It is my 2nd pregnancy and can't remember anything like this before. I think it must be the pressure on the uterus or something.

Sounds like some of you may be suffering from pubic symphisis displacement. This is characterised by pain in your groin area when rolling over in bed or lifting your legs. It can be caused by a combination of relaxin and extra weight in front. The only thing that helps is Chyropractic care. They can put it back into place without doing any harm to the pregnancy. I have been getting treated since I was around 26 weeks and it has helped. Even my doctor went to the chiropracter for the same thing when she was pregnant. Towards the end of pregnancy you will feel this pain increase as your baby puts pressure on that area and things start to widen. If you are still early in pregnancy you may just be feeling round ligament pain. My pain round ligament pain hurt more when I sneezed.

Kara and Lou, thanks for the valuable info! Now I can call it by a specific name. I have also read that a maternity belt can help relieve pain in the groin area when you are going about your daily activities.

Kayla, are you normally small framed? Maybe that is why you are having these pains earlier than most. Just a thought.

Can anyone define groin area? My pain doubles me over at times and feels almost external it's so low down. Don't want to get too graphic, but this really hurts! My doctor just said to slow down...

Sorry, I forgot to say I'm 19 weeks with my second bub, and the baby is lying transverse (sideways). I'm just wondering if this is groin or sciatic or pelvic pain. I'm going to lie down for a while!

Michelle - May 19

I'm about 19wks and I am also having the same groin pain. I thought it was normal at first but they got very frequent and constant. I'll be seeing the doc soon and I'll ask her what can be done. I didn't have that problem with my first child!

Hi Michelle - thanks for replying. It helps just to know we're not alone! I've found lying down even for 5 mins really helps (sometimes it completely goes away) and yesterday I got a donut pillow for work which helps when I'm on the computer for a long time. Can you let us know what your doc says? I'll do likewise when I see mine in about a fortnight. I suspect it's borderline varicose veins for me... bleh. Are all you guys writing in America? I'm Down Under in Australia. Global moms! Ok, thanks again. Good luck!

Thank god it's normal! Mine sometimes feel like period pains and sometimes like very bad trapped wind (Sorry) I'm only 7 weeks so we will see! I see the midwive in 3 more weeks (God it's dragging)
