This is what I read about it: if you have a visible lesion in the genital area when it's time to have the baby you have a 5% chance of pa__sing the infection on to your baby during a v____al delivery. If your baby gets it, the baby has a 50% chance of dying because of the immature immune system. So if you have a visible breakout when it's time to have the baby, you'll have to have a c-section. There are medications the doc can prescribe during the last 6 weeks of pregnancy to decrease your chance of a breakout. You need to tell your doc that you suspect you have herpes, so they can figure out if you do, and take preventative measures.

You can definitely take meds at the end of pregnancy to stop an out break and avoid a c-section. i start mine tomorrow at 34 weeks. You definitely want to tell your doctor, so she can check for signs of an outbreak.
