I am just over 12 wks pregnant; I have been suffering very badly with hay fever.
I have been suffering with a pain on the one side of my tummy and was wondering if with all the coughing and sneezing I have simply pulled a muscle or could I actually do any harm to the baby?

You can strain a muscle from all the coughing. Are you sure you don't have a flu?

i do have a chest infection at the moment, but i also suffer form very bad hayfever through all of summer, and of course i can't take anything for it whilst pregnant so i'm constantly sneezing and coughing, which i'm sure can't be good for the baby

You can take Benedyl...but the children's Benedrly, talk to your doctor...you can't stay miserable all summer. What I do is complain all the time. I had very bad hayfever in spring. You can't hurt the baby from sneezing and coughing he or she is tuck way inside your belly...your hurting yourself the most... especially coughing. Your about 3 months...so your going on your 2nd. trimester the hospital should be able to give you something now. Usually the first trimester they get worried for your baby and your health not to take any medication during your 1st. trimester...so I would talk to your doctor. I'm 34 weeks pregnant and they still let me take children's Benedryl. Take 1 to 2 teaspoons every 4 hours. And take an over the counter cough syrup like Robatussin MD, you can take 1 to 2 teaspoons every 6 hours. Talk to your doc first!
