My upper thigh constently feels like its sleeping and occasionaly I get a burning sensation or like a pins and needles feeling through out the hole thigh. I asked my doctor what it could be but she just didn't know. I was wondering if any of you ladies have experienced this. Please respond with any thing similar.

Hi Annette, this is so weird. This is my third pregnancy and I haven't experienced this before. Doctor says that it could just be that the baby is laying on a nerve. But, last night I was laying on my back with my head and shoulders proped up with pillows, I sat up to turn on to my left side and just as I did I got a shooting pain through my thigh and only my thigh. Do you or does any one have any ideas what this could be besides the baby laying on a nerve. Annette, Its almost time for your labor of love. Best wishes.

Best wishes to you too, jaime! How far along are you? I have no idea what the pain is about, but first time I felt it I was literally screaming, dh gave me a ma__sage and felt much better after that. I am pretty sure it is baby pressing a nerve or many. I also noticed a burning sensation in the joint of my inner thigh, like when you wear panties with tight elastic (which I don´t wear)... anyone?

Jamie, most likely you just have a very sensitive sciatic nerve. When the nerve is pinched, from sitting, standing, or being in any other position, really, it can cause pins and needles in your legs, as well as pain and numbness. Try to find positions where you don't have this sensation.
