Hey Ladies, I totally understand waiting to hear the heartbeat and making sure everything is ok is so nerve-racking. I ended up going to the ER last night, for 6 and a half hours because when I went to the bathroom I was actually bleeding not spotting and that totally freaked me out. I yelled to the hubby and said "we are going to hospital RIGHT NOW." I was so scared and sure I was going to lose the baby, but it was just spotting not heavy bleeding. Anyway, I finally got to the doc at 10:45pm, the doc did a pelvic to make sure my cervix was closed (make sure there wasn't an incompetent cervix) and doc said I was closed up and good to go. Got an IV, a shot of Rogam (for people who have RH issues) I was born with a different blood than my mom and the doctors didn't understand how my mom's body didn't try to abort me since we had totally opposite bloods. Women miscarry (sometimes) due to the fact that the body sees the baby as a threat or sickness and tries to fight it off. Anyway, short story I am not going to miscarry because my body sees the baby as a threat or due to an open cervix. I heard the heartbeat (190) bloodwork checked out matching the ultrasound. 8wks3days. I was a little off, but baby is ok and I am too. Sorry this was long, but what started as a scary evening ended a very happy note. Baby is ok, I am ok. Amen.

michelle-so happy to hear the baby is ok... I know how scary it can be and how happy we get to be a__sured that the baby is still healthy... BTW that is a very strong heart beat! I think you have a very strong figher inside of you. What is your due date now? Did you stop spotting? Are you on bed rest? Keep in touch and take care of yourself.

Thank you Hoping4baby3! I wasn't sure as to whether it was a strong heartbeat...hubby and I think we are having twins..I'm a twin and they run on both sides of my family, mostly on my mom's side though. ^_^ I am due Feb 1st, but I have a strong feeling I will have the baby mid January. I am lightly spotting, however the doc said he saw no threat or reason to worry. He checked my cervix and said that he saw no blood and didn't understand where the blood was coming from but not to worry and that he pretty much thought it was darker discharge from being pregnant. How are you? how far along are you?

Yeah I am scared still, relieved after yesterday, but I noticed the heaviest brown spotting I have had yet. I tried calling my doc and they wouldn't let me talk to her because she hasn't technically seen me yet. I am so frustrated at the fact that an ER doc can and will give me more information on my pregnancy so far than my own OBGYN. Hubb wasn't too happy that my doc wouldn't see me sooner, she told me to go back to the ER. I am not going back there, I heard the heartbeat and you all are saying that it was strong so I trust ya. I am not cramping just feeling kind of bloated and spotting heavier, and you know why I think that is? I did too much today. I did the laundry, dishes and cleaned up the living room... that isn't much. Sheesh, this is disheartening, one minute I am sure I am fine and the next I am fearing for my babies life. I think I am going to have to quit my job. If my body can't handle just around the house chores it won't handle going back to work. And you'd think I was out of shape...I'm going crazy not going on my daily bike rides and walks. Sorry I am rambling, just honestly a little lonely. Hope you all are doing great and babies are doing awesome!

michelle you had more discharge today? Did the ER doc tell you to expect that?
yeah- totally annoying that OB's place a general time limit on all patients... sure a NORMAL pregnant lady may be fine on her own for the first 10 weeks... but some of us need to be seen sooner... that is what they should decide after our first visit no? so frustrating.

I completely agree, it should be a cse by case and those who seem to be having abnormal pregnancies should be at least taken into consideration. Oh well, ya more discharge today after I overdid myself. I was told to either go back to the ER or lay in bed for the rest ofthe day. At this point I don't know what to do. Just hope and pray. Anyway, how are you guys doing?

i know you dont have much faith that they will tell you anything helpful... .but I'd go back to the ER if your discharge is of considerable amount... better to be safe than sorry... and after that, STOP working! lol
i know you only did the basic everyday household chores... but these next few weeks are critical, and if you have to stay off your feet for a few weeks until you hit that 12w mark... than so be it....
afm- i am doing just fine. 10w today.... i have had it pretty good so far... other than sore nipples and 2 days where i had a killer migraine, I havent had any other side effects so far.... knock on wood! My OB saw me this week already - at 9W4d, and she did an u/s. I am going back to her next week when I am 10w6d for another check... then the week after I go into the hospital for my 1st trimester scan...and then hopefully fall into a routine with the OB... lets see!

Hello from the Aussie Gal! Wow! Life has got busy for me since I'm catching up on all the work I was letting slide the last few weeks. In no time you gals are going to be feeling "top of the World" like I am now....I'm sending you all some strength, hope and Prayers, which ever it is you believe in...
Hey rpats - Migraine sux. I thought my headaches were bad enough...poor thing...
On a brighter note girls : Want to share the cutest thing my husband has said so far.
I was telling him how many cm's the baby is according to my week by week book I'm reading... He put his hands on my belly, felt a bit, paused in thought, then he said "Well, he sure does like a BIG HOUSE! Doesn't he!" That's my boy. (he's decided we're going to have a boy - but we have no idea yet....)
I Thought that was funny - and hopefully give you all a laugh. . . Stay Positive Girls - You'll be at 12 weeks before you know it - I felt like it was taking SO long - but once you get there - it will feel quick. This forum is awesome to get your worries out and talk to someone - but after you've written I hope you spend some time thinking "good stuff" Any time I get worried or scared, I just sit quietly for a moment and just imagine my heathly baby in my arms, I can see "her" so clearly! Try it - if you don't think I'm nuts....
I'm 13 weeks tomorrow.... - Baby's HRate was 151 at 12 wks - I will be intersted to here all yours.

oh man! So I have my 1st trimester scan on july 10th... and I was hoping to get the results of that on the 10th(Friday) and then finally share the news (hopoefully all goes well with the scan and b/w) with the family over that weekend. But I called the hospital right now, and the lady is saying that it takes up to a week to get the results back! How is that possible??? Cant they tell right away from the sonogram how much fluid is in the babys neck? I can understand the b/w may take a day or so.... but a week!
Those of you who have had your scan- how quick did you get the results?? :(

Hello Ladies! I am now 11weeks 2 days. I am feeling pretty good...my energy is coming back and I am feeling less nauseous. I went in last week for a three hour glucose test because I had failed an early one hour test (I had to take it because my son was a large baby and my dr said that put me at risk...) Well, I pa__sed the three hour so I am in the clear. I had a dr appt yesterday. I have actually lost three pounds and I go to hear the baby's heartbeat again. It was 170 this time, last time it was 162. I am thinking it is a girl (going off the old wive's tale that abouve 150 is a girl).
We are almost there ladies...first trimester is coming to an end! :) Think positive! :)

You all are so positive, such a breath of fresh air reading these posts day by day! Rpats, what kind of scan? I am sorry, maybe I am slow I just didn't catch on. I hope that you get your results before a week, that seems like an awful long time to wait! You would think they would be able to tell you right away what the tests showed? Meghanlee, so exciting for you! I bet it feels good to have your energy back with no nausea following you. Way to go pa__sing the Glucose test, what a relief. That sure sounds like it's a girl what with the higher bpm! GL ladies! Spotting has slowed or stopped, I am getting up and around the house. Not gone outside yet (100's out), but cleaning the kitchen and reading a book in the sunlight in the family room. Such a beautiful day!

this is a 1st trimester scan where they check the back of the baby's neck and measure the amount of fluid to determine if the baby is at risk for down syndrome. The amount of fluid combined with my bloodwork, and my age tells the doc what % chance I have that the baby has DS. I dont have a family history and I am not over 35, but my OB said that this is a test that is now being recommended for all patients, not just those with a family history or over 35... she says since my insurance covers it, why not? and that is fine... but i just cant believe they a) make you wait till 12 weeks as that is when it is most accurate, and then b) need a week to tell you the results!
Sucks because my 12w mark fell perfectly on the weekend, and we ensured we didnt make plans so we cld spend time with the fam.... to wait a whole nother week will be Soooo long! and then to NOT know the answer to this test will make it all that much longer! ugh. i read on a bunch of sites that they can measure the fluid instantly- as it is done via a sonogram... and the b/w shld not take more than a day.... why a week i dont understand.
michelle- good to see you are feeling better.... :)
meghan - nice- you pa__sed the test! lol

rpats...why don't you share the news with your family that weekend anyway? When you go for your scan you will get to see your baby and the heartbeat I am sure. Honestly, if at 12 weeks the baby looks good and the heartbeat is good I think you are in the clear to tell people. You don't really need the results concerning ds to share the news. :) Like you said...the chance of your child having ds is very slim!
so how is everyone doing as far as clothing goes? Everyone still fitting into their regular clothing? I am still wearing my regular jeans with no problems at all, I did have to go out one belt loop just for simple comfort but jeans aren't even snug. With my first son I seem to remember feeling very bloated and fat at this point and already looking seriously at maternity clothing.
I hope everyone has a great weekend!

Meghan- Yeah, that is what my husband and I were saying... that if we feel positive after the scan we will tell immediates that weekend anyway. I just dont understand how they cant tell you right there how much fluid they are measuring... doesnt seem to make sense.
Yes -I am still fitting into all my clothes.... but I def feel like my stomach sticks out alot... I feel like I have to be conscience of the specific tops I wear, and how I stand... else someone would be able to guess.... I cant wait to just come out with it! Lol
I havent gained a pound yet... lets hope to keep it that way for at least a few more weeks... haha
Tina- Congrats on making it to the next trimester! Very exciting!!! I cant wait for that!
