I am 12 weeks pregnant today and yesterday I noticed some brown spotting in my panties. I went to the washroom and noticed more.I phoned my doctors office and they said they couldent do anything about it. This is my third pregnancy my first two were perfect.I had an ultrasound at 6 weeks but baby was too small to pick up a heartbeat. I did exercise yesterday at a cycling cla__s. My family and I prayed that we could have 1 more baby and now were praying we dont lose it. I wish the best for all of you and your little ones.

I'm currently on my 3rd episode of brown spotting. I'm now almost 10 weeks. The first time was after s_x. The second time was when I ran for the first time since becoming pregnant, that was about a week and a half ago. And the third time was last weekend after a somewhat strenious hike. The first time totally freaked me out. But I had an u/s and all was well, with a nice heartbeat of 130 (at 7w1d). With the most recent episodes, I'm not really freaked out. It was after exercise, it hasn't gotten worse, it's brown, not red, no pain. It's clearing up now. I find it takes a few days to get back to normal. Hope everyone is doing ok!

CHH - I had an episode of brown spotting after I helped my husband rearrange a room - I didn't even lift anything heavy. The Doctor told me that if I was doing anything to agravate the brown spotting/discharge to stop doing anything like that again - until after the first trimester.

I had two miscarriages earlier. I recently had IVF done and am pregnant 5w3d. I spotted some brown blood followed by a trickle of bright red yesterday night and I am really very scarred, whether I am going to miscarry. Today it has turned brown again. There has been slight cramping throughout. I spoke to the Doctor's office and they told me to wait and watch as I just had an u/s the previous day and everything looked normal.Has anybody had a similar situation and the resolve that resulted. Please respond

Is it normal for b___st tenderness to vary each day....ie. increase/decrease during pregnancy?

K - May 29

As of today, I am 6 days and 5 days pregnant. Last night, I went to the ER when I, too, began spotting brown blood and had mild cramping. They tested the hormone levels in my blood, and did an ultrasound. Both came back normal, and I was sent home and told not to worry, since bleeding is "not uncommon" during pregnancy. As of today, I'm still spotting very light, and having occasional mild cramping. Since this is my first pregnancy, I have no idea what is normal and what is not, so I feel very much "on the edge of my seat," not knowing what will happen next. Something I keep wondering, but can't find any statistics for, is if women who spot during early pregnancy have a higher incidence of m/c than women who don't experience any spotting. Can I poll those of you who have had spotting during previous pregnancies and ask whether those ended in healthy births, or in miscarriage? Thanks!

I am about 6 weeks pregnant and am experiencing mild cramping...it feels like Im gonna get my period...is that the type of cramping that you are describing????

Hello. I am 7 wks pregnant. I began to have mild to moderate "brown spotting" 2 days ago. I immediately called my doctor and have been placed on bed rest through Monday. I have a scheduled ultrasound first thing Tuesday morning. This may be the scariest thing I have ever dealt with being a 1st time mom. It was so nice to hear that I am not alone. My life has been in limbo ever since this began. It makes you doubt everything (including, Am I even pregnant?). I have taken 3 preg. tests (all positive) and my b___sts could not be in any more pain, but I have had no nausea. Having some symptoms and not others, and adding in the spotting, makes me feel crazy. It was fate to find these postings. Thank you for all of your words.

To IMD -- I don't know if your question was for me, or someone else, but, yes, the cramps I've had DO feel just like menstrual cramps. Actually, I've had mestrual-like cramps from the very beginning of this pregnancy, even before I knew I was pregnant (starting about 9 days after I would have ovulated/conceived). To Amanda -- It sounds like you feel a lot like I do! I've used those same words, "in limbo," to describe to people how I feel about my situation. In my case, my pregnancy was unplanned, so I've had mixed feelings from the beginning -- I feel like I need to start making plans/decisions one way or the other, and I don't feel like I can yet because everything is up in the air (is this pregnancy going to last, or isn't it?). I'm afraid to get attached to the idea of having this baby, because I'm worried how I'll feel if I do miscarry. Yet, it's all I can think/worry about, since it's "with" me every second of the day. It's just not the sort of thing anyone can even begin to understand until they go through it themselves, and I'm tired of people (most of whom haven't experienced this) telling me, "Just relax. Whatever will happen, will happen." I wish I could!

I had wrote in before that I noticed brown spotting after a cycling cla__s. I begged my doctors office to try and fit me in. I had very light spotting and no cramps. I went to the doctors office and the nurse came in before the doctor and told me she didnt think it was anything to worry about. Doctor did an ultrasound and said the baby has no heartbeat. I was sent home to miscarry on my own. Its been 3 days and still very little spotting ,no cramps at all. I still feel pregnant, but I took a home pregnancy test and it showed a very slight 2nd line. At 13 weeks I should have a strong 2nd line. I have two beautiful kids a 4 year old daughter and a 2 year old son and they are keeping me strong . I dont want to scare anyone , but if you notice anything that doesent seem right phone your doctor.Best of luck to all of you.

To KB: Thank you so much for your encouragement. You seem to know exactly what I feel. My husband and I have been trying for two years (and six very unpleasant "steps"). This is the most exciting thing in my life and at the same time the most nerve-wrecking thing I have ever experienced. I go to the doc in the a.m. for my u/s. All I can do now is hope and pray to God for good news. To IMD and all of the girls: Please read Belly Laughs by Jenny McCarthy. She describes a lot of the same things we are feeling. She does talk about severe cramps comparing them to menstral cramps. Anyway it is cute and will make you laugh. It's not your "normal" pregnancy journal or book. NOTE: If you are offended by ugly language, avoid this book.

Abby, I have been on strict bed rest since Friday when I called the doctor to report the brown spotting (4 days ago). I am 7 wks. This bed rest is for the birds. I am absolutely helpless. I feel good so I want to get up and go, and I haven't noticed a change in the amount of spotting now that I am immobile. It is very frustrating. But on the other hand, what if I were to get up and move, and the spotting increased?#$&? It's so scary. I have had no cramping or anything, just spotting, which increases with BM (I know too much info., but maybe I'm not alone).

this is an update from my earlier posting. I am not pregnant. it seems that some people can produce to much prolactin and it can mimic signs of pregnancy. you can do a search and find a number of articles. I am waiting to see if that is what is going on with me, because even now that i know there is no baby I am still experiencing symptoms.

I had the same problem, and over the weekend misscarried... during my daughter's birthday party.. Early signs for me were: brown spotting, turned into a light menstral cycle, then sat. morning, pretty much felt a gush, and was bleeding badly until about 5pm.. They couldn't find my baby's heartbeat like I said at 7wks 2days, when I misscarried I should of been between 9 and 11 wks.. I had some left shoulder pain prior to my misscarriage as well.
