Thanks for your help! I'm not sure my doctor was going to be doing an ultrasound this early, but she did say she would do a pelvic exam. We listened for the heartbeat last week at about 7 weeks, but didn't hear anything. Maybe today. I will be sure to post what I find out. Thanks!!

Hello, I am 5 weeks pregnant and am experiencing relatively strong and regular cramps as if I have my period but no blood. I called my Docotor to see if I should be worried and she said that only if there was blood accompanying the cramps would they need to see me before the normal 8 - 12 week first visit. Reading this site has made me feel so much better; it sounds like cramps are normal and even relatively strong cramps for that matter (which the books say should be concerning). Of course there is always the chance that it could be a warning sign, but I think monitoring it and staying positve seems the best thing to do. Thank you everyone for your input and advice! Congratulations and good luck!

Shay, ask your doctor about taking stool softner or getting a pre-natal vitamin with one built end. Mine helps a lot. Also, drink lots of fluid, at least 8 gla__ses a day. Constipation occurs cause your body slows down the digestive process to squeeze more nutrients out of you! Good luck!

Hey Shenise, my doctor appt. went very well yesterday. We did my first exam. She checked my uterus and said that it was perfect for where I am at at 8 weeks. We listened for the heartbeat, but she still thinks it's a bit too early and that my placenta is in the way of being able to hear the baby. I am getting a sono. tomorrow (just to ease my mind) and I go back in two weeks to make sure all is well. Will keep you posted.

I am having cramping, mild yet intense lasting 5-10 seconds, much like period cramping. My midwife says it is normal and is the uterus stretching, making room for the little pea inside. I am five weeks and this started one week ago. I have had a miscarriage before and the pain and cramping was way different. You'll know. Don't worry and give yourself lots of positive energy.

hey...just wanted to leave my note b/c i used this site to find out alot of information and i found it helpful so if i can be of some help, id be happy to. i am 8wks preg and i have had period like cramps since my period was first due, ive also experienced sharp pains so severe i wasnt able to stand, worried i went to the hospital and using an ultrasound it was clear all was well, so its best to maybe use your own judgement but the doctor its normal to have cramping aslong as there is no bleeding...like many have mentioned previously... :) goodluck everyone

I have experienced c___ping in the last couple of days, we have been desperately trying for a baby, so I am hoping this could be a positive sign for us.

If you've missed your period but had period like symptoms, you're probably pregnant. I mean cramping. You're uterus is becoming bigger. It's a good thing. When I would worry woul be if I saw bright red blood. Implantation bleeding is different. There will be a bit of a bloody show. Relax. If you're going to miscarry you will. Drink Red Raspberry Leaf tea to tone the uterus. It's a chinese herb to prevent miscarriage.

Here's a new one on me!!! I've been pregnant 7 times and have 3 children, my youngest is almost 8. I just found out I am pregnant at 34. I woke up to use the bathroom and got the sharpest pain while urinating. I called the Dr. the next morning, who told me to come in and have my urine checked for infection, no big deal. Once I got there I explained terrible pulling on my sides. He did the urine, it was normal. Then went on to make me get 3 HCG tests over the next week and an ultrasound tomorrow. Now, instead of thinking everything is going well, I am a nervous wreck. Anyone ever had this happen? I won't get any results on whether or not my HCG levels are rising adequately for 6 more days...nothing like causing too much stress this early on!

Hi, I am now 12 weeks pregnant and have just heard my babys heartbeat, i was on here a few weeks ago asking if cramping was normal, i was told 'mild cramping', well mine was not mild, infact sometimes quite painful, and i always felt a niggle here, twinge there, sharp pains etc, i constantly had my poor midwife round who a__sured me that all was fine, but i do stress that ANY pain should be checked out just to be sure !! I also have had bad diarrhoea and it has only now started to subside ! Good luck to everyone

TTC - June 3

My husband and I have been TTC for four months. This month after ovulation I have been experiencing cramping (for about 5 days now)mostly on the left side around the ovary, but it does switch to the right. I have been going to the bathroom non stop, even in the middle of the night. I'm not due to start my period until 5-11-05. Did anyone else feel this way and then test post on HPT? I'm just wondering if it could something else. Thanks for any help!!

Yesterday I found out that I was pregnant with my third child. I do not remember cramping with the other two. I have been having cramping that feels like a tightening/gas pain. I feel that it is more than likely okay. My boby is more than likely jumping right back into baby mode!

I am 5 weeks tomorrow and had light cramping and back ache from Saturday until yesterday. Also had sore bb's. My concern is that my symptoms seem to be going away, I mean besides my bb's being a little sore and having to urinate every 20 minutes it seems. Anyone else have this issue? I called my doctor and she said as long as I am not bleeding and in pain then everything should be ok.
