Has Anyone Experienced Cramping During Early Pregnancy

it is a real relief to read these posts. I had a miscarriage at 7 weeks in April and am now 6 weeks pregnant. (i know-it's fast) I have had mild period like cramping for three days now pretty much nonstop. I am also having lower back pain but I have been extremly constipated during my entire pregnancy so I think that is also a cause. My cramps keep switching between period like cramps and gas like cramps. I have been so positive that i am waiting for a miscarriage, but this time I still have my pregnancy symptoms and reading these posts makes me feel soooo much better. Every other site I visited was written by some doctor or a__sociation that said cramping for a prolonged period of time was a bad thing. It really made me think that menstrual like cramping meant miscarriage for sure. I am going to quite worrying so much now, as I have been in bed for two days being miserable and freaking out my husband. I just want this pregnancy to work out. I feel a lot more confidant now, thanks ladies for your help. This has definately been the scariest experience of my life and I know so many couples that are just soaring through pregnancies right now with no fear. I always wanted that, I guess you have to create that situation for yourself

SarahP, I'm 6 weeks and this is my first pregnancy. I too have period like cramps, and I've had them since before my missed period. I've been so scared. This weekend I hardly left my house because I was sooo sad. I felt like I was just waiting to miscarry, and every time I went to the bathroom I was expecting to see blood. I had my first doctor's apt. yesterday. The doctor was a little more opptomistic than the websites I've been reading. She said that since I was bleeding that was a very good sign. She said that lots of women have period like cramps and it's just their uterus stretching. I'm still very scared but I have a glimmer of hope that it might just be my uterus. I'm going back Wed and Friday of this week for blood work. Then I'll have an ultrasound in two weeks at my 8 week mark. Even the doctor told me that I really need to stop worrying, but I can't seem to. Plus, I don't really have any other symptoms besides positive preg. test, missed period and headaches. You mentioned you had a m/c.. how far along were you and what were the circ_mstances? did you have cramps with our without bleeding?

I'm am so happy to be reading this. I have been so upset about cramping. I'm 5 weeks and I'm having some pretty serious cramping. Enought to keep me awake at night sometimes. But i'm not bleeding, my HcG levels are good and the doctor says I should worry, but reading this is much more rea__suring.

I went to the dr. yesterday and they said that every pregnancy is different. My cramps have subsided unless I am very active, but I really don't have many pregnancy symptoms either, which seems strange but I am not worried anymore, the dr rea__sured me and said if I continue having the cramps that they would check my levels. What I have realized is that for all the women with "normal" pregnancy symptoms there are lots of women with different symptoms. When we don't fall into the "normal" category we get worried. God made all our bodies different and we go through exactly what He wants us to, We just need to pray for our babies and take care of ourselves and beyond that leave the rest to God! It's good that we can all come together to encouage each other, I will be praying that all works out for everyone!

I am 10wks pregnant, and i experienced lots of cramping, sometimes even severe cramping, where it feels like bad period cramps, but my doctor said as long as there is no spotting along with it, then no worries, dont stress! ;)

To Jen.My miscarriage in April was actually very obvious now that I look back on it. I lost all of my pregnancy symptoms even though I had severe nausea before, and I had tension headaches for three days that were so bad my vision was affected. I didn't have menstrual like cramping leading up to it, it was a different kind of cramping just the night before. Today I went to the doctor's and found out that my Hcg levels, which were very low, have tripled in two days, awesome news. I haven't had the cramps in two days, but I was sure this week I was gonna lose the baby, and I didn't! I know this pregnancy is not gonna be as easy as I thought it was going to be, but I'm just gonna keep holding on. And I wouldn't worry if you don't have typical symptoms, this pregnancy I've only been nauseus once in six weeks! if you are meant to have that baby you will! take care, good luck

I so want to be prego - August 14

I could be pregnant, and I have had really sore b___sts and some cramping like I were to get my period but it's not due for another week. My symptoms started end of last week. I think I might be pregnant, but also could be too hopeful. I guess this can be typical, yes?

I'm almost 4 weeks, and for the last 3 -4 days, have very uncomfortable menstrual-like cramps that come and go. They happen mostly at night, and especially when sleeping. I'm not doubled over in pain, but they are painful enough to wake me at night. I drink at least 65 oz. of water/fluid daily, so I don't know how they'd be if I didn't. Does anyone have any other ideas how to lessen the pain? I tried Tylenol a couple of times, but it does nothing... I need sleep!

My daughter is now 2 yrs. but when I was pregnant with her I experienced a whole lot of cramps because I have fibiods.

Same here. Cramping since about when my period was due. All the books said to contact the doctor, but it was never severe, just mild and consistent. I am almost 9 weeks and so glad I found this site for a bit of rea__surance! Good Luck!!!

Thank You ALL For Answering! I just found out I am Pregnant by going to the ER for crampping and back ache and I was so worried. The cramping is mild comes and goes, back aches are worse when I sit for a long period of time. Do you guys think I am okay?

Tisha-Marie - August 18

I'm not quite sure if I'm pregnant. I have been having a few symptoms and I have noticed that my pms symptoms are not the same. I checked out this site to see if cramping is a normal part of pregnancy and you all have answered that for me.(thanks) I have taken a home-pt, it was neg, but I'm pretty sure I took it too early. My period is due next week, so I'll wait to see if it comes.

Jenn - August 18

to Yo Yo and Tisha-Marie I just spoke with my OB and she said cramping is indeed normal, as long as it's not severe. I have had the back pain as well and it is definitely subsiding the further along I get. Hang in there. Tisha, wait five days and take the test again. I had 2 false negatives before finally getting a positive. Make sure you take it first thing in the morning and not at night. That makes a big difference in the amt of HcG hormones in your urine. I had symptoms so similar to PMS, I swore I was going to start any day.

I'm also about 6 weeks and have had mild cramping/discomfort for the past two week. I feel better when I lay down and it seems to get worse as the day goes on. I'm having an u/s next Thursday, (i've had a couple of miscarriages earlier this year) so I'm hoping that will give me some good news. I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who has these cramps!

Jackie - August 18

Well, I am still having mild cramping on and off. I have been having these symptoms for the last two weeks. My period is finally due today or tomorrow. Every time I go pee I look for blood and there's nothing. I'm getting even more hopeful, but at the same time this waiting is killing me! I haven't taken the HPT yet b/c I don't want to get a false neg. So I decided I will wait as long as I can and see if my period doesn't come. For me that's the healthiest thing to do. I hope I have been blessed with a child. Please keep writing, cause it helps get through the day knowing you women are out there too! Good luck!
