Avi, keep trying to stimulate your milk production when you are feeding baby Diya with formula. At leat you are lucky and Diya doesn't get rash or react to the formula. Helene is right. I hope i will have the same amount this time, but understand each pregnancy is diferent. I tryed to put Vanessa inmy b___st t=one night when i couldn't keep myself awake and she was crying for food and i couldn't move. That happen like two times in the the begining. I was thinking i was easy if i am in the bed while she is sucking , but she was to lazy to suck hard and she didn't like so i pumped my milk all the times. That is boring after a while because you have to be at home or in aprivcate place where you plug the pump and then i was washing and sterilizing the pump attachments. Feeding directly form the b___st may be more convinent but they suck less. Avi my email is zlujano@hotmail.com i look ofrward to see your princess.

Oh another thought - watch the type of nipple you use - stick with the slow flow because it makes the baby work a little bit harder and they do better at the b___st. Otherwise it is easier to suck the bottle and they don't build up as strong a sucking motion and will prefer the bottle and nurse at the b___st less forcing you to pump more to keep up your supply. That is advice from my friend who is on numero tre! Yeah, Zay _ I am not looking forward to pumping - boring. they have these bras that you can attach the pump to and have your hand free to do other things but I swear the woman looks like a freak with these things hanging off her b___bs! I can't help thinking that if I can't stay still and be a little bored for the 12-15 minutes needed for the electric pump to do its job, then I am crazy. Have you seen those bras? They crack me up - like a Madonna outfit. LOL! BTW - i will answer your e-mail soon. I just noticed it ,but I have to do some work and then crash because i got hardly any sleep last night. ALso, I may try to add some pics of Teddy's room so far to the babysite.

Helene, I think b___stfeeding directly from the source it is the best way, i am 100% agree with you. Using the pump is the best alternative for working mothers. The process is faster; baby is satisfied longer when you feed the milk from the bottle. I notice that. I didn't have a nipple so it was very hard for her to suck. BTW that thing hurts. I use the madela pump, which is very expensive. No everybody can afford it. My insurance paid for it, because my doctor prescribed it for me, and Vanessa was reacting to the formula. SO I was lucky. My logic is: with pump or without pump if you body produces the milk we should give it to them. At work we have pumping stations for mothers. It is a very relaxing place where you pump several times at day and refrigerators for it. I never warm the milk in the microwave, i did it with abottle warmer.

Hi Zay! That is so awesome that your insurance paid for the medela pump. I have never heard of that! I was goignto buy the pump in style but my friend told me that she would lend me her barely used AMeda pump. MY other friend who is extremely into b/f and moderates a forum had recommended the Medela, but said she had heard good things about AMeda as a second choice. Sounds like you had inverted nipples. That stinks. I thought they said not to warm b___stmilk in the micro, just to run it under warm water?

Hi girls, i can't wait until Tuesday. I will have my sonogram and i will know the s_x of the baby. I feel my hands getting a little bit swelled. My rings that are normally loose I started to fell them tight. Helene i don't know if i have my nipples inverted or no. But they are normally flat and it was hard even with the pump to get good sucktion. they still hurts. DO you b___bts hurt during all yourpregnancy?? i don't remeber that with vanessa. I remember the headache when i was laying flat. How is your itching. ?? mine is gone, but if i stop to clean myself with the shampoo yit comes back again so i uses the shampoo as a soap

Helene - October 19

Hi! The itching is still here unfortunately. Sometimes it goes away, but then it comes back and some days it is quite itchy. I have a bad tendency to scratch it until the little dry scabs bleed when it does get bad. Last night I realized that I had bloodstains on my one pair of pajama pants from where I had scratched the stupid things one night. Gross! It does not get that bad that often, but when it does, ooh! As for the b___bs hurting, I really don't have tha either, thank goodness. And my nipples are usually flat, too, even before being pregnant. But I can manipulate them to come out, so I am not worried. Also, lately I have been getting more of the "headlight"effect these days without any manipulation, ha, ha. Good luck with your ultrasound. I know you must be so excited to find out what (s)he is! When I was at your point, summer was just starting and my fingers, which normally swell slightly in summer, seemd a bit bigger, and my rings felt uncomfortable, so I took my wedding rings off and haven't worn them since. IN the past few weeks, my feet and ankles have sweleld slightly, just enough to limit me ot two pairs of shoes (these sandals that I wear with socks because I don't care how geeky it looks, and these clogs which are less nerdy). But the swelling is not much so I am not worried. Still I am conscious of it just in case, especially because of what Avi went through with the toxemia. Kim, too, but I think she said she did nt have the swelling (I forget, maybe i am wrong, Kim).

Helene, do you see like pimples where do you have your itching? Try tgel shampoo from neutrogena. You can find it in any CVS. The liquid is dark brown and it has blue cap. If you take shower with hot water you will keep the itching alive. After i take the shower i rub som bond extra strengh powder. During the day a clean the area with pine tar soap clled grandpa, I try the aloe vera and itcalm my itching for about 30 min and then it comes back. My is around the breat because is the area where my sking have streched the worst. Try it and let me know if it works for you..

Hi Ladies...Sorry I have not posted in a while but things around here have been kind of crazy. Baby girl has been in and out of docs and hospitals. We were having some trouble with her eating. Everytime she would eat she would scream and cry which just come on suddenly. She would be up all night crying and screaming. She was throwing her legs up in the air and would just turn herself bright red. She went from a very peaceful eater to a baby that hated being feed. I knew something was wrong and insisted they check her out. Well they kept telling me nothing was wrong. So I did my own research and spoke with my best friend who is a nurse practicioner at a pediatricians office and we came to the conclusion that she is lactose intolerant. She ran some tests on her and sure enough... she was. We changed her to simalac isomil soy and she is like a brand new baby. but no longer cries in pain and no longer fusses. She sleeps for 4-5 hours at a time during the night and is pretty much very content. From what she said it seems that since I dont drink any milk and that I am lactose intolerant that she never got exposed to it. But now i can tell you that I have several coupons for enfimil formula. I think like over 75-100 worth. I have like 5 of the $12 off ones. Does anyone want them. If you do just send me your address to my email account at kimberly_andrews@comcast.net and I will send them to you. I can only use isomil soy now. Which rules out any enfamil formula... let me know and I will send them. Also, have like 45 bottles of Enfamil lipil for new borns and if any of you guys want them I will be more then happy to send those out to you as well. My husband and I were going to throw them out because we didnt pay for them they were a gift from the hospital... but I would rather send to one of you ladies who might need it. Let me know and I will send out. How are you all doing? Hope all of you are doing well. If has been a rought 2 weeks around my house but slowly getting better. Hellen how are you feeling? I know that the itching is kind of a pain in the a__s but rest a__sure it all goes away after pregnancy. Only a few more weeks for your right? Are you all ready? Avi... how is Diya doing? Do you have any pics. I would love to see them. My email is in the posting if you can send them over... i would love to see your little princess. Zaida.... I know you are getting excited to find out the s_x of your little bean... Any inkling of what it may be? Do you want a boy or a girl? Are you hoping for one or the other? Let me know when you find out!!! Well, baby girl is ready to eat AGAIN. Hope all is well and look forward to hearing from you all. XOXO

Hi, Kim! Wow - that must have been a bit scary for you and dh. Glad ot know that bay girl Sierra is doing well on her soy milk. My niece, who just turned two, is also lactose intolerant and was on soy formula and now drinks soy milk. I can't really remember how it all started with Amanda, but I think my sister said that she just threw up her formula very badly and they figured it out form there. She, too spoke with a lactation nurse (her friends' mom) who suggested the milk allergy and recommended thta she stay away from dairy until she was two. My sister said she would try again very slowly after Amanda turns two, but I don't think she has so yet. I don't think it is tha uncommon. ANd good for you for listening to your mommy intuition and looking into it yourself. MY nephew on dh' side started throwing up his milk after nursing as soon as she came home form the hospital (he is now 16) and it turned out that he had a problem with where his esophagus connects to his stomach -apparently the opening hadn't formed properly and they had to do surgery to correct it. Thank you so much for the formula offer, but I am going to try to b___st feed. (Watch me three months from now saying, d__n, I wish I had taken her up on that formula offer!, LOL!). BTW, I know that BJ's sells the soy formula in bulk if you have one by you (I bet Cosco and Sam's Club do, too). I was just at BJ's today picking up diapers, wipes, and baby wash. I drove up to my friend's brother's house because her SIL had a bunch of stuff that she had borrowed form my friend and was now handing off to me. It is exciting ot get this stuff all ready for the little guy. Yesterday I bought him two little outfits in the Carters outlet before I went to my doc appt. Everything went well at the appt. MY cervix is still closed ,which is to be expected ta 35 months, and they took the strep B test. Doc said the baby is measuring big, so he is sending me for an u/s just to see his size. He said not to worry that it might juts be the way he is lying that he measured big form the outside. Zay - Yes, there are little "pimples" that itch and they dry u and become scabs and when I am bad I scratch them of an they bleed. Gross, I know! I have been bad and not used the aloe vera regularly, but I started using it again and it seems ot be helping. If it stops working I will try your Neutrogena method. I don;t think i have ever seen the soap you mentioned in a store near me, however. Good luck with your u/s on Tuesday - girl or boy - bundle of joy! (corny, lame saying, I know!)

Hi kim, how are you?? wow, i bet iwas crazy at home with Sierra and her feeding. Thanks God, you your mom feeling were ready. Now days we need to be very educated patients. You kim speak english so You can't believe all the c___p that I have been through with doctors and venssa. I am sorry, to say that, but a lot americans think that latin peolple are uneducated. And vanessas's pediatricians descover that no all them, at least no me. She b orn with her tonge attached to the bottom oh her mouth. I was concernen because to talk spanish you need to cut the tissue in other to speak andpronounce the letter R corectly. But this lady told me that i shouldn't worry about it because she is american and she doesn't need to cut the tissue to talk english. She said taht to me that i have the most heavy foreing pronunciation. I did my reaserch and i found a doctor that cut the tissue a liberate her tongue. So Good for you Kim, we know when something is wrong and we should keep looking for solutions to our porblems. One day i was working and vanessa was a her day care. Suddenly i have an urgent need to see her, and i asked half of the day off. I went to pick her up to go home. It was aorund lunch time so she was sleeping, Guess what?? she had a very high temperature at that moment. Adn the ladies there didn't know . She was fine when i droped her in the morning. So I can't explain that but i went directly to the doctor because she was 102 F at that moment. Well i am happy to know that Sierra is ok now. You enfamil offer is very good. I think Avi have priority over me. We haven't heard about her, but i know when we have a NB it is hard to find time to play in the computer. I hope she, her family and baby Diya are doing ok.

Well girls i have news, i went yesterday to get my 2 level us done and they found that it's a BOY!! Alexander is in his way to fill pour house with more joy. I new since my NT test that it was a boy. I am really happy that the us come normal, everithing lloks fine but due to babys position that couldn't get a clear shot of his ahrt and they asked me to come back in three weeks.

Helene - October 25

Congrats, Zay! One of each for you and dh! Vanessa must be so excited! The same thing happened to me with the way the little guy was lying. They couldn't see his heart plus they couldn't see his hands, and feet clearly because he was sleeping rather stubbornly on his belly and wouldn't move. I went back and they got the hands and feet and face pics better, but still couldn't get clear shots i of his heart .Went back a THIRD time and finally got pics of his heart after much manipulation by tech and me, although the shots were not the greatest. Docs weren't worried because i had an amnio before thta and all came out good with that. Good luck with your next u/s. I have doc appt on Fri and then Monday afternoon another u/s to see how big this little pumpkin is. I am so happy for you. Hey - now we have two princes and two princesses on this board!

zay28 - October 26

oh yeas!! Helene two boys and two girls. I new it was a boy, my intuition was teling me that. I was hoping for a girl because it will be easier for us, no to do any changes. At the same time having a boy is a new experience, i will have a boy and girl. I went yesterday and i bougth his firs outfit. I can't wait to see him. Helene I know you are very close. you are aboout 4 weeks. I bet you are excited. I haven't heard anything from avi. I bet Diya is keeping her very busy. Kim how is Sierra feeding? Is the soy milk working? I don't if i told you but vanessa react to the regular milk at the begining and i gave her soy milk and her tummy couldn't tolerate the milk. I was traveling alone from Vzla to here and vomit me during the trip. Ilost planes it was a major desaster. She was 3 months old and iwas still feeding her with breat milk.. I decide to buy a soy milk so i do't have the need to pump the milk in the airport. Well what a mistake. I tryed the nutramigen and she didn't like it. Honestly that one is really expensive and the taste and the smell is awful. lookforward to hear about diya..

Hello girls?? i hope everything is ok .

Helene - November 4

Hi! SOrry, I haven't posted lately. I have been doing a lot of typing and what not on the computer for school work and between that and the slight swelling that I have been having in my hands and feet, my carpel tunnel has acted up again. Haven't had it in years, but i guess as it is not uncommon in pregnancy, I am a prime candidate. Actualy, I am just happy that that and the herniated disc did not bother until so late in this pregnancy. I posted on the other site a few times, but afterward my b___t hurt so badly from sitting in the chair that I had to get up! Seriously! I have so much pain down there from my ligaments stretching and bones loosening up that it stinks. This wil be my last week at school, so I am trying ot tie up loose ends. I went to the doc on Friday and she said all is well. The baby dropped a little (feels like a lot to me) and she could feel his head, and I am a 1/2 cm dilated so things are moving in the right direction. SO he is still head down, too, which makes me happy. ANd i only gained a pound this week which was a relief after last week when I gained a full 5 lbs and nearly had a stroke when they weighed me. The nurse laughed at me because I was freaking out. How are all of you ladies? How are little Diya and Sierra doing, mommies? And how is Alexander and Vanessa's mommy feeling these days?

sanjavi77 - November 5

Hi ladies, how is it going? diya is doing great, so am I healthwise. b___stfeeding is going great. I am so happy with that itself. could not post b4 b/c of hectic schedule. How are things with all of you? Helene, you are so near your delivery. I wish you all the best. Are you going to Lamaze cla__ses?How do you feel in your last trimester? I used to say heavy feeling lol. I can't believe still that my pregnancy is over, when I look at my little Diya....huh? baby is here already....it takes a lot for new moms....so pamper yourself even after delivery. One of our friend came to see Diya and I was in PJ's...it had been only 5 weeks yet and wth c-sec it is so hard to wax legs and stuff and that is the last thing on my mind these days. She commented that you are growing ypur hair....I was like what? she goes may be you were supposed to be a boy, but were born like a girl...then said just joking. I got so upset. My c-sec insicion was opened a bit last week, my DH was learning how to do it cuz I can't see, but he fainted...gosh I was scared and i was sharing with my friend...she goes your incision is not healing cuz you may be delivered at the age of 28 and she delivered at the age of 23. I was like thankx, So pls pamper yourlsef and let others not say anything discouraging. I do feel blue sometimes, but ppl's comments make me feel discouraged or bit depressed. Anyhow, I will send pics, let me know, ifyou got it or not. love, Avi
