Kim too-
I am so sorry you are going through this with your doctor, some are so wonderful. How far along are you? And how far along were you when you had your ultrasounds?

Kim too:
I would switch doctors if I was you. Yours sounds like she is quick to jump the gun. If all goes well, is she the person you want calling the shots in the delivery room? I realize she wants to set realistic expectations with you, but it sounds like her bedside manner sucks. Anyway, I hope all goes well for you and that you have successful pregnancy and a healthy baby. :)

I am so glad I found these posts. I have been beside myself with grief all day due to the likelihood I am miscarrying at 5 weeks. Started spotting last night (mostly brown). Today I saw my doc and had my hormone levels tested. He said he was concerned about the levels being low for 5 weeks. I think he said 112 (does this sound about right but low obviously). He didn't do an us though. Can they even see anything this early on a us? I am going back Tues. to re-test hormone levels and see the doc once again. I too would just like to know one way or the other. Not knowing is tearing me apart. Every time I go to the bathroom I pray I won't see any more blood on the tissue. I have a beautiful, healthy 2 1/2 year old baby boy and I never dreamed this would happen. I was completely blind-sided. It makes you count your blessings that's for sure. Was hoping for a baby girl but now just hoping for a healthy baby. I sympathize with each of you going through this heart wrenching experience!

Mike, you are perfectly normal to worry. In fact I would worry if you didn't. It does sound like the pregnancy is perfectly normal. I am truly happy for you both!
I too am going through the same thing. I don't know what to think. Is the blood test for the hcg always even right? The ranges are so far apart it's hard to tell what is actually normal. On 3/24 my hcg was only 37 and the next day 49. Then on 3/28 it was 297. WOW! Well, they don't want to schedule my first OB appt because I had a miscarriage on 1/20 and they want to be certain that will not happen again. Well, I am frustrated with that answer. To me they have no hope. I am very anxious and cannot wait to knwo what is going on. They did another hcg test today and I should know the answer by tomorrow 4/5/05. They will be doing an ultrasound by 4/7. So wish me luck!

Hi to all! It sounds like you all are pretty experienced in troubling pregnancies. I have been looking online to try and figure out what my problem could be. Maybe one of you can help! I found out I was pregnant on Thurs, March 31 and my doctor had me go for initial HCG bloodwork on Friday, April 1 and Monday, April 4. My HCG level on Friday was only 38 and then it only increased to 45 on Monday. I went to the doctor on Tuesday and she sent me for more bloodwork yesterday, Wed. March 6 and the levels continued to rise but only to 56. I know that these levels are extremely low, but I was wondering if anyone else has ever experienced what I am going through. My doctor is sending me for more beta levels today and then wants to discuss terminating the pregnancy. She is thinking it is a tubal. Do any of you know if polycystic ovarian syndrome could affect the proper rise of my HCG levels? and Do you think I should insist for them to try and locate the pregnancy by u/s before terminating it with methotextrate. This whole pregnancy has come as a surprise to my husband and I since we weren't trying and my doctor had told me we wouldn't be able to conceive without the help of a specialist due to me having PCOS. If you have any answers or words of wisdom, please let me know. Thank you!

You should be very optimistic. The ultrasound in much more reliable. The only thing I would suggest is getting another one fairly soon, to make sure she is progressing normally. I've had the same problem with my levels and was told by my doctor, once we have the ultrasound, there's no need to continue to check levels. The ultrasound will give you a more accurate age. Good luck!

I too had very low levels like that. 34, then 48 two days later, then 134 one week later. My Dr. wanted to wait and see what happened naturally. She said that ectopics don't become symptomatic until the levels got higher. In my case, the pregnancy ended on its own. I was 5 1/2 weeks.
Hope all things work out for you. Let us know what happens.

Well, I just came back to update everyone, and it's not good...I went for another u/s on Wednesday night, and there wasn't a heartbeat anymore. I am soooo upset and now am just waiting for my body to realize that the baby died. I have been through so much and got to 8 weeks (per my doctor on Wednesday night...further than I was told originally), and had high hopes since the heartbeat was there. Not only that, since the time I last wrote my doctor had called me two days after the tech had told me that the heartrate was 103, and she said that the chart said the heartbeat was at 160, and not 103. Then she went on to tell me that the baby should be fine afterall....until this Wednesday when I got shot down one final time. I feel like I am ready to explode with every emotion possible...I'll write again when this is all over with. Right now I just have to wait for this to happen naturally, and she said that could take up to a week or so for my body to realize it. I am so scared to go through this, and to try again when this is all over now. Thanks for the replies guys....wishing everyone else a healthy baby......

My doctor said my hcg levels were not increasing like that should as well. My LMP started 2/2. Had first u/s on 3/21, but saw sac only - - no embryo. Saw the same thing 3/28 and the doctor said it looked like the sac was "flattening out." My levels were 62366 on 3/24 and 76527 on 3/29. I'm scheduled for a d&c 4/13, but not sure what to do at this point. No bleeding or abnormal cramping. Any reason for optimism?

I found out that I am pregnant on the 7th. I had a very light spotting. On Monday, my hcg was 220. Today, I went back and the hcg level has not doubled at all. The nurse thinks I have etopic pregnancy. I am supposed to go back Friday for further test. I am not having any of the etopic pregnancy symptoms that I read about. Has anyone experienced the same thing?

My doctor told me today that my HCG levels have not doubled but are going up, but the sac is smaller that expected. I am so elated to find that KIM is having a successful pregnancy! Hearing your story has really given me and my husbabnd hope! We are not giving up on our child, we are going to keep praying to Jehovah and count are many blessings! This site is a god send! LMP was 3/8. Hcg on 4/11 was 900. I had a very small amount of pinkish brown d/c on the tissue when I used the bathroom. At first this happened a couple times a day, but no real cramping. A repeat HCG on 4/15 was only 1900(should have been around 3600). u/s showed just a sac-expected for 4wks. I just can't shake the feeling something is wrong. I had another hcg done today and have an u/s and visit with the doctor scheduled for tomorrow. I have not been having the "spotting" every day and am praying that this can still turn around. Thanks you for sharing your stories and giving me hope.

I am going thru the same thing right now. I had a miscarriage in November, got pregnant again in March. My HCG levels are very low but rising. My first test was almost 300, the second was 587, and I have one on Saturday. I spoke to a woman from one of the Medical websites, and she encouraged me. She said it not always the numbers, but if the numbers are rising. So all of you low level HCG people stay encourage. God Bless
