Tilted Uterus

At nine weeks I went for an ultrasound and she told me I had a tilted uterus. I asked her if that was a problem and she told me "no, it will snap back on its own". She found the baby right away and the heartbeat(180). I thought that was high, but she said that was normal early on because they are growing so fast. I have an appointment in a couple weeks and I am going to ask thedoctor more questions about this.

for me my story is different. i lost my first baby at just ovr three months . im pregnant and and scared. im in AGONY my lower abdomine. i also have a retroverted uterus with hasnt flipped yet . so its quite painful. im the rare case! also .. with me. becuase mine hasnt flipped my baby is running out of room to grow . thus this will cause me premature birth. so i have to pay extra attetnion to growth and develpment i get and ultrasound every 2 weeks to insure everything is still ok . so for me other than additional discomfort. everything seems to beok . unfortunately becuase my uterus didnt flip . the baby wont have enough room to turn into a birthing position and i will have to have a c section when the time comes .

I have a tilted uterus. It did not impeded finding the baby on my first or second ultrasound. However, the t_tled uterus can cause two problems in first trimester according to my OB. One of which was not a problem for me and the other was. First, the tilt can cause the uterus to get "stuck" in the pelvis as the pregnancy progresses - this is rare. Second, the tilted uterus, as it grows, puts pressure on the outlet for the bladder. What does this mean? At my first ultrasound, I came with a full bladder. The full bladder blocked the ultrasound tech from seeing the baby. Unfortunately, the tilted uterus was tilted more on the outlet for the bladder as the bladder had filled thus making it impossible to let any water out without a catheter. The catheter and emptying the bladder solved the problem. I did not go with a "full bladder" just one with some liquid in it to the second ultrasound and no problems. I am told that the tilt of the uterus disappears or is minimal during the second and third trimesters because it has moved out of the pelvis and is so large anyways. From what I've learned, it will not affect the birth or the baby.

Mine is tilted to the back, so at 6 wks they did a v____al u/s and I saw the baby and the heartbeat.

I, too, have a tilted uterus. I'm 10 weeks today and have had no problems whatsoever. I had my first u/s at 5w 6d and we saw the heartbeat then. It was an interv____al u/s if that helps. good luck and god bless.

I have a tilted uterus and it didn't cause any problems or complications, I now have a perfect 4 week old baby boy. We could see him on sonogram as early as 8 weeks.

I had a doctor tell me I have the most tilted uterus he's ever seen. I am now 9 weeks pregnant and haven't had any problems yet but I do know my uterus is still tilted because I went to the doc's Monday and she confirmed this. At 6 weeks I had an u/s and could see the baby and heartbeat so I'm optimistic everything is fine...doc says all is good too. Good luck!

I too have a tilted uterus and my Dr. said that is why at 6 wk u/s it was hard to see much but the gestational sac. At 7 wk u/s we were able to see sac, yolk sac and baby w/ heartbeat. He also thinks he might have seen another sac, but said he couldn't be sure. I go in for u/s at 8 wks. Very anxious of what second sac is!!!!

I was told at a young age that I had a severely tilted uterus, however very nicely shaped they said. I am 12 weeks pregnant now, I still can't hear the heartbeat on the outside only using a transv____al ultrasound. They rea__sured me in a few weeks though that my uterus will be up against my abdomen so the heart beat will be able to be heard from the outside. I am very pet_te and I feel like even though my uterus is tilted back I am starting to show a lot (I've only gained 3.5 lbs). Can't fit into my old clothes anymore, also people have started noticing that I am pregnant, however my pelvis has grown out, I have absoutly no hips so that is the biggest change, I have stretch marks around my tail bone where the the pelvis joins with the sacram.

Do they make you put your fists under your hips/b___t to do a pelvic exam? I'm 8 weeks from my lmp, but i had an us at 7 weeks and we saw nothing, but the report says i could be less than 5 weeks, ectopic or miscarried, but I have no symptoms of the latter two.

BUT BC OF HAVING NO SHARP PAINS OR BLOOD I REFUSED & GOT ANOTHER DOC. TO DO AN US IN WHICH HE FOUND THE HEARTBEAT...WE SPENT 2HRS TRYING HEAR MY BABYS HEARTBEAT...HAVE FAITH

I went for an ultrasound (internal) to find out how regnant I was as it was unexpected and was able to see the babys heart beating at just 5 weeks and 5 days. This being the estimations I was given whilst I was there.

I would like to know the same.. I am 29 weeks pregnant and my doctor told me that my uterus is tilted to the right.

I am about 4 months and lately I have been having extremely(!) painful cramps. I mean they hurt so bad I cry. When I asked my doctor he said I had a tilted uterus. I don't think he understands how badly this hurts and scares me. Is it normal for cramps to be this severe when you have a tilted uterus? ( I'm not bleeding, it's just the cramps) Any input would be greatly appreciated.

kris - March 15

Cara, I am wondering if you are reading my mind! I'm almost 19 weeks pregnant and have been cramping since the start. The last two weeks have been more intense (and SCARY). I have a tilted uterus (backwards and sideways) but have no idea if it has corrected itself. All doctors and u/s technicians seem to b__w it off as not a big deal and quite common. I was in to the dr. twice last week to investigate but all seems fine (in fact, perfect) with the baby and no explanation for me for the cramping. Braxton Hicks can start this early, though the contractions should be more uncomfortable than painful, dehydration can make your uterus more sensitive, your bladder, bowels and other organs in the region that your uterus might be resting on are very "nervy" or sensitive by nature. You should definitely ask your dr. about a possible bladder/kidney infection which can be easily cleared up with pregnancy safe medicine and can cause similar pains. A urinalysis tells them within the day. All in all, it could be many things is what I'm told. I'm always told to go back if they get worse and that no question/concern is dumb. Bottom line is that if you are not bleeding (as is the case with me too), and infection and thinning of cervix are ruled out, you're fine. Go talk to your dr. and have your anatomical scan - you're due soon anyways (16-20 weeks). You will see baby moving around and, in our case, sucking HER thumb. Don't get me wrong, I still worry endlessly :)
