Conception Question Pg1313187787

I just wanted get some opinions on my situation. I turned 40 this year, have no children and have had prior issues conceiving due to endometriosis in my 20's. I have recently found out I am pregnant. Here is my question: My cycle is a regular consistent 23-24 day cycle. What I thought was my last period was on June 25, 2011 and by all appearances was a normal menstrual cycle. I had unprotected intercourse on June 21. I again had unprotected intercourse several times between July 2-6, which is when I assumed I conceived. But when I had my ultrasound this week, the ultrasound said I was 7 weeks pregnant instead of 6 and a strong heartbeat was heard.....which would lead me to believe I could possibly have conceived in June even though I had a period and was no where near ovulation that day...Thoughts?

Don't forget that "weeks pregnant" dates from your last period, even though the conception was from ovulation two weeks later. Seven weeks on August 10th goes back to an LMP June 22 and ovulation July 6th. Since you have a short cycle you can add several days to that LMP, taking you to June 25. Ovulation would not change. Everything fits as far as I can see. Stay close to your doc. Pregnancy at 40 is not the same as 20. Congratulations on your life-changing decision.

Thank you - I guess the more I think about it that makes perfect sense....I guess I was just concerned whether or not my June period was actually a period or not....but even if it wasn't we'd have to go on the LMP of June 2, 2011 which would put me closer to 10 weeks which isn't the case at all...I wish I could upload my ultrasound, but from what I have seen it is very consistent with other 6-7 week ultrasounds I have seen.
