My LMP was 8/23/10 and so the doctor figures my estimated due date would have been May 31 2011. I went in for my first ultrasound and according to the size of my baby they say I'm maybe nine weeks along at most. They changed my due date to June 4 2011. At my initial appointment the doctor said I was around 10 weeks then, my ultrasound was two weeks later. So if I'm really two weeks earlier than what the doc originally said wouldn't my due date be around two weeks later, not only four days?
The ultrasound technician also mentioned that because I hadn't known I was pregnant and was still drinking/smoking on a frequent basis that it's possible my baby was not thriving as it should, and could be physically smaller, but my doctor refused to answer any questions about this.
I'm entirely confused by all of this because my husband and I separated on September Fourth, and the last time we'd had s_x was on August 31st. I have not slept around, and the dates just don't add up to me.
Can anyone please shed some light?
And I apologize if this is confusing, but with the confusion of it all my husband claims there is no way this child is his, I know it has to be, but things just aren't adding up to me either.

Men! Ouch, pregnant from s_x your last weekend together! You are puzzled because an ultrasound at presumed 12 weeks lead the tech to say you were only 9 weeks along. The tech is supposed to let the doctor do the talking. He meant "gestational age", from the time of conception. The doctor added the two weeks to give the traditional "weeks of pregnancy", added four days because of the small size, and gave you June 4th as a new due date. With LMP 8/23 you would have ovulated 9/6, and sperm from 8/31 would still have been viable. Invite your husband to pay for a paternity test if he wants to dispute responsibility! Good luck!

Revision: I think my explanation for the two weeks is valid. I should not have said sperm from 8/31 "would" have been viable. If you want to hang your hat on the idea that sperm is only good for 5 days, that is questionable. However, women do get pregnant from s_x on the last day of their period, so between long lived sperm and early ovulation, it happens. Your husband could contend that you were at a wild party Sept 4th, and don't remember all the details. If you know you were crying your eyes out alone at home all that weekend, the possibility can be discounted.
