I had my implant removed in May 2011 and by September (when we started trying), I started taking Folic Acid. I noticed I was feeling a little nauseous but as i had been taking the folic acid without food, I figured that was the reason and as I disregarded the nausea, I realised that I wasn't feeling nauseous at all.
We then found out at the end of November that we were pregnant - about 5.5 weeks, and at 6-7 weeks, I started feeling nauseous again and put that down to morning sickness. Sadly, however, I suffered a blighted ovum and had a D&C just before Xmas.
I took a break from the folic acid while i recovered from the op, however now that I'm back on it, (and have been for about 3 weeks), it's only now that I have started feeling nauseous again albeit the feeling passing very quickly.
I was just wondering if there were any side effects to folic acid when not pregnant and if there's any comparison to when you are pregnant.
Thanks

Hmm. There is enough folic acid (folate) in the American diet that you may not need to be taking supplements until you think you are pregnant. Read the labels on your cereals and bread. It does not improve the chance of getting pregnant - just reduces the chance of birth defects. If you are experiencing negative effects, it would probably not hurt to quit. GL!
