After one round on clomid, I found out yesterday that Im pregnant and I don't think Ive ever been this happy in my life. They told me that I'm only a week pregnant and that its the earliest pregnancy my doctor has ever detected. I look online at different sites to get information on the first week of development but it just says on each website that "during the first week you're not even pregnant yet" because doctors generally go by the first day of your last cycle since theres no telling when conception took place. If My doctor already knows when I ovulated and pretty much when, and she calls me to tell me Im pregnant, is she still going to go by that rule of thumb or in my case, will it be more exact since they caught it early. If thats the case, arent I TRULY one week PREGNANT, i mean with a fertilized egg and everything? When looking up information would it be safe too look at (by the websites info) the "third week of pregnancy" even though I'm not technically 3 weeks along yet so I can get accurate information on how my baby is developing?
Also, my doctor said that its so early that if I took a hpt that it would show negative. Just for fun i did one last night and it was VERY positive. Does that mean that I could be farther along than what she thinks? Can you see why Im confused yet? lol

Pretty weird. Do you think you got pregnant the previous cycle, before the clomid? How did she detect the pregnancy - will ultrasound pick up something so small? Perhaps she did a quant_tative blood test and found hCG levels starting to rise. She must be referring to gestational age, which dates from ovulation. At that time the blastocyte may only just be implanting in the uterine lining. "Weeks of pregnancy" by convention refers to the beginning of the last period, which adds two weeks. Congratulations, and good luck in the weeks ahead!

no I definitely got pregnant after taking the clomid. After the cycle of clomid I got a blood test to see if I ovulated and it was positive for that. Then she had me do a blood test for pregnancy at my 28th CD and she said that I was pregnant. I'm pretty sure she means Im a week past egg fertilization, not a week pregnant by normal standards since by "normal standards" I wouldn't have even ovulated yet. I read that doctors only go by the start of the last period because they cant tell when you actually conceived, but my doctor does know pretty much when I conceived because of the clomid so I really am one week pregnant (and counting). Does that make sense?

Normally on CD28 you would be 2 weeks gestational age and "4 weeks pregnant". Her "one week" would perhaps have been since implantation. Confusing as heck! GL!

Hi Charity808
If your dr knows when you ovulated, then you should add on two weeks to get the "conventional" date. From what you've said above, I would imagine you are three weeks pregnant. Will you be having blood tests every week to check your hcg levels? If they are rising, you are definitely pregnant! Congratulations! Believe that you are, soon you will see it for youself on a scan. How exciting! I am seven weeks and have just seen my baby's heartbeat for the first time!!
