Vasectomy Effectiveness Question

Vasectomy effectiveness question? I have a friends with benefits situation, I am a 47 yr. woman (chances of getting pregnant at this age is 5%) and my BF is 35. We have been together 2 1/2 months and he INSISTS on using condoms even though he had a vasectomy (effectiveness is 99%) at 23 and I have missed 2 periods since Sep 09. He said when he had the vasectomy done the Dr. told him since he had the clamp procedure done there was a slight possibilty that he could get someone pregnant. I told him they have to say that for legal reasons and he is worring way too much. My ex of 17 yrs had a vasectomy after the first year of marriage and so did another boyfriend I had at 19. I told him if I was going to get pregnant it would have been with these 2 guys as we used no protection. He doesn't even let me play with his p__s on my vulva for fear I will get pregnant! Who is right? And for the record it has NOTHING to do with STD's as I have only been with one man in 24 years before him, and was tested for everything for my BF to prove I had nothing and I didn't....I am very clean.

Have you thought of the possibility that he has occasional outbreaks of an STD and does not want to chance infecting you? Anyhow, between the vasectomy and your age, I think the chance of pregnancy is vanishingly small. The chance of your having irregular periods is increasingly great. Have fun!

He was tested also. He has ONLY been with a total of 8 women in his life and wore a condom with all of us except the one women who had a hysterectomy. We are both extremely clean and monogamous. So this isn't a matter of STD's at all but his imaginary fear of producing a child he has never wanted (why else would he get fixed at 23?) nor does he believe in obortion.

So he is a little obsessive - it might show in other behaviors, too. I suppose he could go back for a more complete procedure, or you could get yourself fixed if that would satisfy him. Finally, you could trade him in for a more liberal model. GL!
