if my last period was on July  27, 2015 and my current due date is May 9th, how can I calculate my conception date?  I've used the conception calculators but I'm not sure how accurate they are

The ovulation that gave rise to the pregnancy is 14 days after the start of the last period assuming a 28 day cycle. July 27th+14=Aug 10th. Add days if your cycle is more than 28. Sperm can last inside for 5 days but the egg only lasts one day after release. Sex Aug 5th thru 11th likely caused the pregnancy.

An ultrasound in the first trimester dates conception accurate to a week or less. The "weeks of pregnancy" quoted at the time of that ultrasound are the weeks from the start of the last period even though the ovulation was not until 14 days later. This is the difference between gestational age and fetal age. Due date is last period + 40 weeks (9 calendar months + 1 week). July 27th + 40 weeks = May 4th.
