Laura - check out some of the posts on the First Trimester thread. There are quite a few about this.

This is so reasuring to know that I am not the only one. I have had the cramps for about a week now and the home pg test said post_tve two times. I just couldn't believe I was pg becasue I still feel like I am going to start AF at any minute. I am glad to hear this is normal because I keep telling me husband something is wrong and of course he think I am a wack job every twinge I am like oh my God somethings wrong, but there are times especailly at night that the cramps are very painful and I just can't see how that is normal I couldn't even walk to the bathroom on my own last night my husband had to help me.

Natasha~ Congratulations on your pregnancy. As far as your cramps are concerned, they should not be painful to the point that your hubby has to help you to the bathroom. How are you feeling today? How far along are you?

Thank you for you response, I called my doctor right after I wrote that, and they also said its too eairly too tell. I just wish that I could know for sure that everythings going well. but I take it when i go in for my next app. they will be able to tell me if my uterus has been growing or if it still looks the same. i will be 6weeks 4days then. I also heard someone say they got an ultrasound done at 7weeks and they could hear the heart beat . Is this true should I ask for another ultrasound to make sure everythings okay? I never worried about this with my 1st baby, but i never got an ultrasound until 5months. i guess now I relize there is so much to worry about. thanks for the advice...and also what site are you talking about that gives advice on this?

Laura - From what I've seen posted here, every case is so different! I too, have seen those where the heartbeat is seen at 6 or 7w. I'm just hoping mine will show up next week - I'll be almost 8w by then! The site I'm talking about is this one. www.pregnancy-info.net/QA/questions-First_Trimester/

IF your going to be eight weeks along, you should be able to see a little bit of the baby developing, and most likely the heart beat. congrats, everything should be perfect . i wish i was 8 weeeks right now so that i could tell. i just got the u/s yesterday and ive been freakin out ever since.... ps. i found the web site you were talking about..... I was amazed to hear that other woman were in the same "boat" as me.. take care and let us know when you get your u/s and what happens.

Hello! I'm having the same issue. I found out a week ago that I was pregnant. My husband and I are very excited (our first). Since Sunday I've been a little crampy and have some VERY light spotting. It continued all week. I called the doc yesterday and they ordered an ultrasound and blood work. Mind you, I'm only 5 weeks pregnant and the ultrasound didn't show much because it's too early. But the doc said that I'm right where I should be just about (the sac measured at 4 weeks). They did some blood work yesterday as well. I'm going back in on Monday to have more bloodwork done to make sure my BETA levels are getting higher as the pregnancy progresses (which is good). I'm such a nervous wreck right now. They also ordered another ultrasound for next week to make sure there is a heartbeat and everything is progressing as it should. I wish you luck. And pray for me! Oh, and as for morning sickness, I've only experienced it 2 times so far. I'm sure more is to come.

to all you women out there who are worried about not seeing a heartbeat at 51\2 don't.You cannot see a heartbeat till at least 6 to 7 weeks i couldn't see my babys heartbeat at 5 weeks all i could see was the youlk and the sac i am now neally 7 weeks and am having another scan in four days.So please don't think there is anything wrong. If it's after 7 weeks then sadly there could be a problem unless you have your dates mixed up. I to worried for the first 5 1\2 as this is my second pregnancy with my husband which the first one ended up in a m\c. All i think now is whats meant to be will be.

I am 5 weeks pregnant and I 've been having these cramps for the last 10 days. I went to the doctor and he told me that it is normal!!So, try not to worry

I've been having cramps also. Mostly on my left side. I recently had a m/c in Nov. of last year ( was having the same syptoms except with bleeding). I've been on clomid both times. The Dr. says I have cyst on my ovaries which are causing the cramps. (clomid causes cramps). I went to the E.R last week b/c of the sharp c___ps to my left side. Thats when they didi the v____al ultrasound. Unfortunately they didn't see a sack nor the baby. At that time I suppose to be 6 weeks but showing as 5.4 days. My hcg level was 6621. And in two days they jumped to 12076. I'm still a lil' worried. To top that, my husband and I was mateing and we used one of my toys. After I reached my peek I saterted to have very strong cramps on both side of my ovaries. I'm now worried. I've never been told not to use vibrateing toys while preganant. I hope everything is going well. I have another Dr. Appointment in the morning. So hoepfully everything is fine. Ladies I'll keep you all in my prayers..

I just had another u/s! I was supposed to have it Friday, but my OB is going on vacation unexpectedly, and she called me in today. I'm 7w3d, and everything looks good! We saw a heartbeat and everything! It is such a relief as I've been having minor cramps for 3 weeks and spotting a light brown color for 2 weeks. I've got these really cool pictures of a fuzzy blob. But its 5 times bigger than it was at 5w4d! I hope everyone else will get good news too...

Cramps are, in the most part, very normal. That was how I found out that I was pregnant. I had been having cramps for a long time and still wasn't getting my period, so I went up to the E.R. and they did a pregnancy test. Sure enough, I was 4 weeks or so along. I also had alot of nausea and would only throw up from having to brush my tounge! Everything went fine, however, and on December 2nd, 2003, I had my daughter by c-section. So, good luck to all you moms out there and hope everything will go well for you as well.
