Does Placenta Previa Cause Cramps

I have placenta previa, and today I am having some cramping. It's not the normal ligament stretching cramps. But real cramps that are starting to worry me. Nothing severe, but sortof alarming considering I have this condition. Is cramping normal with this condition? I thought bleeding was really the only symptom, so I'm confused.

Oh, and I'm 20 weeks, so I don't think it could be early labor or anything.

It is probably braxton hicks...But I don't know much about plecenta previa......I got menstrual like cramps throughout almost my whole pregnancy....and then braxton hicks were added to the pile when I was around 25 weeks! =(

Yikes.... 25 weeks? Can BH contractions bring on real ones, or do they continue to be harmless?

Kristina - January 16

As far as I know they are harmless...just annoying and painful! I started having them at 25 weeks and Tasia was born 9 days late! haha

I was due Oct.23...She was born Nov.1st.

Glad we can laugh about it! :o) I think I put you on the receiving end of some of my frustration toward Lin and her inability to read my posts. My bad! ;o)

M, I beleive the only symptom you should have due to pp is painless v____al bleeding.Me i dont have pp but i am 31wks pregnant and i cramp alot, feels like im going to start my period any sec. and thats been going on for a few wks now,you can always tell your doctor about it.

Thanks Rhonda. I did go ahead and call my doctor yesterday afternoon, basically to report it. She didn't act alarmed since I'm not spotting or anything, so I feel a little better about it. I figure if it was a concern she would have told me to come in. Now that you say that about yours feeling like period cramps, that is sortof what mine feel like, too. Thanks again!

M, Hey im glad your doc.sounded like things are okay,i bet that eased your mind.I went to my doctor today and told him about my cramping,he said it sounds like false labor.I cramp every day just about,it feels like my period is going to start any time. And when i start cramping,it makes my back cramp as well.im tired of hurting this bad.My doctor said everything looks good.I hope you start feeling better m.

I also have placenta previa- it is actually normal to have cramps with this. I have them alot also. This is another reason why they say you cannot have s_x, because that not only can cause bleeding but also very bad cramps.
