I first heard of it on the radio about 10 years ago. The DJ's actually had callers who already knew what they were having call in with the results. I was surprised by how accurate it seemed to be. I tried it myself, but realized after the fact that you're supposed to use powdered Drano, not liquid.(blonde moment) Anyways, I wouldn't go painting the nursery based on the results, but go ahead and try it for the fun of it. :o)

hey thanks for your response. i feel like i just had a blonde moment too. i just did it, but i used the liquid form as well.........lol. i'm making my bf go back now and get the powder. so did you end up using the powder, if so did it work?

First -- that'd be neat if it really did work and yes I've heard of it. They list it with wives tales ... BUT think about it. If that actually worked, wouldn't they market it as a gender predictor and put it right by the pregnancy tests? Or wouldn't all doc offices have the chemicals there at the office so you could get the results from them. Lord knows they don't do enough testing on us and would love to add another $200 test they can perform. PLUS, your urine is basically ammonia (sp?) How wise is it, ESPECIALLY while pregnant, to mix draino and ammonia? So if you're gonna try this.... be safe.... pee in a cup, leave the room and let hubby add the draino. *wink*

I have a friend who used to volenteered in a STD clinic and she swears by it. She said out of like 30 women she tried it on, they were all right. I don't know how true that actually is, but the two friends i know who did try it said it worked for them. Aparently you should use draino silver crystals (something like that) and mix it OUTSIDE, it's toxic. I have yet to try it myself, but i think i am going to. If anyone else does it, let us know what it said (like bluish green for boy and brownish red for girls she said)

ok so i did it, and i figured out that the more drano you put in the urine the lighter it gets, but if you just put a little in it, then it stays pretty dark, like a brownish. I'm confused!!!! I think i'll just wait to see what the doc says:)

I thought maybe the ladies I work with were the only ones who did this...so funny! It didn't work on me, but for every other preggo at work it has. I think maybe we did it wrong with me. Beware however, it smells really bad, probably not something you should get too close to being pregnant...have a friend put the draino in the gla__s, the smell almost made me vomit. I do have a weak stomach though. Good Luck!

Hey..funny you should bring this up. My aunt told me about this test last week and I just laughed and laughed. She said that my cousin did it for all 3 of her kids (2 boys and 1 girl) and it was right EVERY time. She told me you HAVE to use the Draino crystals, which are hard to find. They do sell them at Walmart though. Anyhow, she told me you put them in a cup and pee in it. If it turns Green, it's a girl, if it turns Blue, its a boy. I havent' tried it yet as I found out by ultrasound that i am having a boy, but now I want to go buy the d__n things just to see if it works....LOL.

Oh...by the way....If you are going to do the test, they say that you have to be at least 4 months along. Also, she said if it is brownish, it is a boy.

i sort of agree with the darwinism --- NOT a smart idea --- but .......... would be neat if it actually worked and wasn't so dangerous.

Hey...someone else is using hdf as their sign on. I did not write anything about darwinism. I'm the HDF that did do the draino test. That's weird...I may have to change my sign on.

You don't have to do the test yourself. I had friends mix the draino in the urine and we did it outside so the fumes weren't in the house. I think most people would realize that the fumes are dangerous, and if not before they started, as soon as they got a whif of it they would figure it out soon enough. But from most people I've spoken to that have done it...it works.

i heard that if you mash up an onion and rub it under your armpits, it will make you smell like onions. sometimes for a few days. it's a lot cheaper and safer than draino.
