Hi, this is my first pregnancy, I have tons of questions. But I was wondering I'm about 7 weeks now and won't have my first prenatal visit till I'm about 11 weeks, is this normal? Do they usually wait that long?

Most docs are comfortable with not seeing you until you have missed a second period and the pregnancy is well established. In the meantime you should be taking adequate folate or folic acid from your diet or prenatal vitamins.

Hi, doctors will usually see you anywhere from 6 weeks to 10 weeks. They usually wait until they can establish a heartbeat. I went at around 6 weeks for both my pregnancies. They can tell you if you have a sac, but they cant always tell you if the sac is empty or not until about 6 or 7 weeks. If you have pain of cramping they will see you now to rule out an ectopic pregnancy.
