Getting Pregnant After Depo

I had my first depo in december 27th 2012 i have had two periods 1 in april and the 2nd in may and i have been trying for a baby and it hasnt happened yet. I understand that it can take up to a year after having the depo shot. However, I have had 2 periods which from what i have read, is unusual as most women dont have periods at all? Any help/advice would be much appreciated, thanks :)
